Advantages very cheap, tasty, quick to prepare
Disadvantages nothing
Breakfast for me normally consists of eating a cereal bar at work on the way to work but when I am on a day off I like to have something nicer and more substantial for my breakfast. One thing that I do really enjoy for breakfast is pancakes and whilst shopping in Sainsbury's recently I spotted packs of their basic pancakes for a bargain price so decided to give them a try.
The basic pancakes come in packs of 6 and cost just £0.20, I was slightly amazed by this price and thought they were too good a bargain to miss. The packaging of the pancakes is a very simply designed and consists of the pancakes placed on a rectangular piece of card and wrapped in a plastic wrapper. The top of the wrapper is clear which allows you to see the pancakes inside and the bottom is white and orange in colour to match the rest of the basics range. There is limited information on the front of the wrapper but it does tell you the basic nutritional information of each pancake. It also states that the pancakes are 'a little smaller, but still perfect with syrup.' On the back of the wrapper you can find more detailed information including, ingredients listings, full nutritional information, storage instructions, heating instructions and allergy advice.
You can eat these pancakes just as they are straight from the pack or you can heat them up under the grill or in the toaster. I personally prefer to heat my pancake's up and have them warm, they are really quick and easy to heat and I simply pop mine in my toaster for about 1 minute. The pancakes are not as large as some that you can purchase but they look the same. They have a nice golden colour and you can see the fluffy texture with the air bubbles inside. I love to eat my pancakes with golden or maple syrup and this is exactly how I ate these pancakes. The pancakes had a nice light texture and were just as good as some other more expensive brands that I had tried. I would say that although they contain quite a high amount of sugar they did not really have a sweet taste at all and tasted quite bland. But this makes them a perfect base to add all different toppings and my syrup worked perfectly and soaked into the pancakes to make them moist and sweet.
These as it states on the packet may not be the largest pancakes but they are still of good quality and are a complete bargain. Personally I will certainly be purchasing these pancakes again as I think they are great for the cheap price.
