Sainsburys Nail Varnish Remover

I don't often wear nail varnish, and never use the coloured stuff, mainly because it's just too difficult to remove it without nails looking stained and nasty. I have tried many different nail polish removers over the years and if it takes a lot of rubbing to get the stuff off, I give it up as a bad job and throw it away.

Going through a French polishing stage required me to at least make the effort to remove the stuff, and since I do a lot of shopping at Sainsbury's, and needed the remover right then I bought this one.

~~~~Product and packaging~~~~
What can I say? It's in a 250ml plastic bottle looking like practically every nail polish remover bottle I have ever seen in my life. With a screw on/off top, it's important that you screw it back on tightly or it could damage furniture- I'm quite sure it would do the carpets no good at all. I can see through the plastic bottle and the colour of the plastic makes the remover look a tad purple…be not afraid…it does go on the nails as a clear liquid and leaves no staining.
The smell is that horrible acetone smell- I'm sure it's the acetone that makes it smell but could well be wrong. Anyway, for anyone who has used nail polish remover, the smell will be a familiar one, and if not, then don't smell it…not nice.
The instructions and information on the back tell me that it contains conditioning agents for nails and cuticles, so at least they shouldn't dry out. The polish remover, in line with sainsbury's policy is against animal testing and states that they fund research into alternative testing; so, I can remove the nail polish with a clear conscience.
~~~~Using it~~~~

Moisten cotton wool with the nail polish remover and wipe gently over the nail surface. This should, in principle, remove the nail polish.

~~~~A cautionary tale…~~~~
Lots of warnings and cautions, mainly based around the fact that it is flammable, and should kept away from children, eyes and mouth. It also states that you should avoid letting it get into contact with polished surfaces- this is in line with what I wrote about keeping the lid tightly on the bottle.
~~~~Price and Availability~~~~

This is available online at www.sainsburys.com or instore and costing £1.29 for 250ml, it certainly won't break the bank.

~~~~My thoughts~~~~
It works! Finally, for a very nice price thank you very much, I have found a nail polish remover that really does work with the minimum of fuss. Yes it still smells but don't they all?
I thought the success was because French polishes are so light in colour, that I just THOUGHT the polish was removed. So, I tried it with different colours and was successful each time. Great stuff!
It's easy to use, and requires no scrubbing over the area to get the polish off. I tend to find the best way to get all the polish off the nails is to hold the nail polish remover soaked piece of cotton wool on the nail for a few seconds and then wipe away.
For anyone needing an effective nail polish remover, it's certainly worth a whirl.
Thanks for reading.
