As far as basic keyboards go, the Saitek Compact USB keyboard is basically OK. I was particularly looking for a simple keyboard with a USB connection which I could plug into my new Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop and this fits the bill perfectly. It even has the same colour scheme - black keys and silver casing.
Installation is simple - plug in and go. It doesn't need any software, the Add New Hardware Wizard in Windows installs it automatically.
It has adjustable feet so you can alter the angle and is very lightweight
It doesn't have anything but the usual basic keyboard functions but at a cost of £8.99 from Argos (used my Nectar rewards again!), I'm not complaining. It also comes with a 2 year guarantee.
It took me a little while to get used to the feel of the keyboard, as compared to others I have used, the Saitek keys are spaced fractionally further apart from each other. I also felt I was having to press slightly harder than I was used to - possibly because the keys are seem to be 'chunkier' than most. Apart from the initial impression of the keys, I am typing on it quite happily
As this product has been around since 2005/2006 it doesn't say if it will work with Windows Vista. The user manual states it is OK for Windows 2000, XP and XP64.
If you want a basic keyboard with a USB connection you can't go wrong.

Hi, As this keyboard is described as compact I would have liked to have known the dimensions to see whether it really was or not. Otherwise good review.
