Advantages: Lots of Programmable buttons Disadvantages: Poor design for Left handed.
Joysticks... the essential item for any would be Pilot or gaming fanatic. There are so many on the market, from all kinds of Manufacturers for all different needs... So how do you choose?
The Evo boasts 12 programmable buttons, a general X and Y axis stick and a throttle lever. It even lights up. Oh my!
So. The joystick. After purchasing it from the Saiteck Website, I was really excited to whacking in my BF2 disc and J-10ing some scum down... However ... ...say it is.
On arrival, I managed to get the thing out, (After cutting my finger mind you) plugged it in.. and was horrified to find I needed to install some software. Grumbling I went back to the box to find the disc. Whacked that in. To only find the software was a pointless tutorial of the ''Evo in Action'', This usefulness came afterwards (After the 3 min video) I got to calibrate the throttle and the X/Y axis's. Once thats done. I loaded up ...

Advantages: price,USB Connector, solid, game profiles, right handed and left Disadvantages: clashes with my belkin N50 , big thumb screws
...for you. The Saitek Cyborg Evo joystick.I think that this joystick is the most customizable joystick. Saitek has been known as a company that makes nice products, at good prices. The Cyborg Evo features 4 axis control, 8-way hat switch, trigger, 5 stick buttons, 6 base buttons and a throttle lever. The joystick is fully programmable using the included Saitek Software. It's Windows 98, SE, Millenium, 2000, & XP compatible and all that over an USB Connector. But ... ...to calibrate the joystick. Saitek suggests the calibration is probably not necessary and I agree, the Evo was spot on right out of the box. There are nearly a dozen game profiles are also available for download from the saitek web-site.All in all if you love flight games and need a to play better then you can't go wrong and for the price of about £25 well thats what I paid.Oh yes there was one down side to the joystick and that is it clashed with ...

Advantages: Customisability, 12 buttons, looks, price, recalibrations few and far between Disadvantages: Throttle in a funny place, hand support uncomfortable
...a number of Logitech and Saitek joysticks over the years and while the Logitechs are good, nothing beats Saitek for affordability and reliability in my opinion.
The Evo is very, very pretty to look at (despite a friend's insistence it looks like the spaceships in the 50's War of the Worlds movie). Brushed stainless steel panels, good sized black buttons that are numbered - an important feature often overlooked. Chunky metal screws, trigger at a ... ...it is the hand support. Saitek are championed by left handed gamers for their ambidextrous designed joysticks and this is no exception. The joystick head can be pitched and rolled through the adjustable screws to your exact tastes which is fantastic - but the hand support can only be adjusted in terms of screwing it into holes higher and lower down the joystick grip itself. The angle of the support cannot be altered. I grip the joystick with my hand ...

Advantages: Fully customisable, left & right handed, solid throttle Disadvantages: Rudder twist can be overly sensitive
There are many joysticks on the market today, some vary wildly in price and quality. Luckily this joystick is very reasonably priced and is of great quality. There are 12 programmable buttons which is very handy if you, like me, play alot of flight sims. There is an in built throttle on the front of the stick which allows for subtle throttle changes in most games making the experience alot more realistic than pressing buttons to increas and decrease ... ...can look around your cockpit with ease. Also the whole stick will twist to act as a rudder.
One of the most interesting features is the fact that you can configure the layout of the joystick to fit your hand perfectly. For example you can angle thre whole head of the joystick left and right. The buttons that are accessible by your thumbs can be ajusted to a shallower or deeper angle and you can ajust the hand rest on the shaft of the joystick. This ...

Advantages: Many, Many Buttons, Toggles, Turns, Twists, You Name It. Disadvantages: Takes a little adjusting at first to get it comfortabe for your grip.
I landed (no pun intended) myself a copy of the latest Flight Simulator game for my high spec PC and I was relatively excited at the prospect, but I was dismayed at the thought of playing this shiny new game with my relic joystic from the stone age that was powered by a combination of wind and a group of small men, so I rushed immediately to my favourite technology website and sought a really decent joystick that had both a throttle control and a ... ...this partcular scenario. My parcel was here in no time at all and I shredded the packaging in excitiement. The overall look of the joysick is very cool indeed, there are several blue LED's on it which light up when plugged into the usb socket of your computer. These look especially cool in the dark on a night flight! The joysick is heavily customisable which means that hands of all shapes and sizes can feel comfortable using it. There are loads of ...

I picked up my Saitek Cyborg Evo Joystick for 50p down at the local car boot sale. Good condition, all the buttons, clean, good as new, literally. At first, I thought "this isn't going to work, 50p? This costs around £49 brand new!" but how wrong I... more
I actually bought my ST90 whilst on a school trip in New York. In a little computer store opposite Macy's as it happens, but that's beside the point. Prior to purchasing this ST90, I only had its poor brother, the ST50, which had served me well, and... more
