The Saitek ST290 joystick offers a good quality gaming experience without the massive costs of some higher end models. The joystick is wired and plugs straight into an availabe USB port for a great 'plug and play' experience. No programming is necessary for the joystick as this is sometime done by the game that you are playing (especially Microsoft Flight Simulator).
The joystick features a height-adjustable hand rest which is great for people with different sized hands and can be adjusted easily by a simple screw. The joystick has five buttons which can be used for different purposes such as changing views or whatever you need them to do. There is also an eight-way hat switch which is very easy to use and can be used to do things such as move around views. There is also the trigger which is appropriately placed to give a great gaming experience. The throttle also feels very nice to use as it is not too loose and not to stiff compared to other joysticks. Another feature of the joystick is it's twist control control which lets you twist the handle for uses such as rudder control. This makes the joystick have another dimension and adds to the gaming experience.
There is a small, blue light on the top of the joystick to let you know that the joystick is plugged in and powered.
The pivot of the joystick is not covered and the spring can be seen so this area needs to be kept clean to ensure optimum performance.
The joystick has a decently weighted base which can be put on a desk or wherever else you want to put it for great comfort.
The Saitek ST290 is a good joystick for all levels but mostly for the less hardcore gamers.
