Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs has got to be one of my favourite beauty products of all time, and I am actually surprised that it has taken this long to write a review about it.
~About the product~
This is a product designed to spray onto your legs to give an airbrushed finish. It will cover imperfections, veins and scars, and add a subtle hint of colour. It contains vitamin K, and is weightless and optically slimming.
The product is available in four shades- light glow, medium glow, tan glow and deep glow. One thing to note though, this is not a fake tan, it is simply make-up for the legs, although if you're very pale like me, you might find that even the lightest shade gives you a hint of colour.
The product comes in an aerosol can, similar in size and appearance to a body spray can. The colour of the can will vary slightly depending on the shade you choose. There is a picture of a woman with flawless legs on the front, and clear instructions on how to use the product on the back.
This is so easy to apply - and quick too - I would say it only takes around 5 minutes to apply, perhaps less if you're quick. You need to spray the product into the palm of your hand and then rub over the legs, rather than applying it direct. The product is coloured - there is no need to wait around for the colour to develop or anything like that - and that makes it really easy to apply, as you can see where it's going. It also has no smell which is a plus point, because often these sorts of products can smell really strong.
A slight negative point, is you are putting this in your hands and then picking up the can, you might find that the can gets a bit scruffy - hand prints all over it, but that's not really all that big a disadvantage I suppose, it's something most people can live with.
You don't need to use a huge amount of this, as a little goes a long way. It blends in easily, and it isn't streaky like tans can be. I usually stand in the bath to apply this in case of any drips, although to be honest there probably isn't any need as I have never known this stuff drip once.
It also dries really quickly. I always give it about 10 minutes before getting dressed, but that's just to be safe, the can says that it dries in 60 seconds and I can't really dispute that, I just want to make sure - and maybe I secretly enjoy prancing around naked!! Lol!
Well, what can I say? Amazing! As I said my skin is very pale, and I'm not really confident to show my legs off bare, as I also have a few scars, and as anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm very accident prone, so always have the odd bruise. This product covers all the imperfections and gives me a slight hint of colour, that looks natural on my pale skin - unlike fake tans, which often look just that - fake.
One thing I was a bit concerned about the last time I used this, was that it might transfer onto my dress. I had bought a new black dress and it is lovely but made out of that fabric that picks up make-up really easily, and as it was quite expensive I was a little bit concerned about this stuff coming off and ruining the dress. Luckily it didn't budge at all, even though I was in a boiling hot club for most of the night.
I have sensitive skin, and a patch of eczema on my foot, and I was a bit worried about applying this over the top. I put my normal moisturiser on the dry patch and applied this over the top. It doesn't actually say anywhere that this is suitable for use on sensitive skin, but I found it to be fine, and it really did minimise the appearance of the eczema.
Once on the skin, the product feels pretty light, but I do sometimes find that it is quite noticeable that you're wearing it - it just makes your skin feel slightly different. It is not sticky though or anything like that.
This has amazing staying power. It is a wash-off product, and I remember the first time I used it, I was a bit worried in case it rained and it ran down my legs, but I have found that it pretty much stays in tact until you wash it off with soap and water.
Even the next day, it was still on my legs, the only place it had slightly worn off was where the straps of my shoes had been, although where it had gone I don't know, because it hadn't transferred onto the shoes themselves.
The price varies depending on where you buy it, but tends to be just under the £10 mark. Superdrug and Boots both sell it for £9.95, but you can get it online for a lot less £4.95 on www.discountbeautyshop.co.uk and sometimes even cheaper on Ebay.
I love this. It gives flawless skin, gives an irresistible finish, I am quite self-conscious about my legs, but this is like confidence in a can, it makes me feel brave enough to get my legs out! It covers all imperfections well - like I said, even my eczema, although I would suggest that the sensible thing to do might be to check with your doctor before putting it on eczema patches - after all I work in IT, I'm perhaps not all that qualified to be giving that sort of advice! The only thing I am waiting for now is for them to bring out something that can be used on the whole body!
