Advantages Affordable, modern design, easy to use, well made.

Disadvantages None!

Although these are not the only set of Salter scales I own, I do have to say that they are my favourite set. Salter are well-known for their range of measuring appliances, and I find that their bathroom scales are of excellent quality, practicality, functionality and design. I suppose you could say that this is the reason for owning two sets of Salter scales, though they do have a nack of producing a high quality product, and targeting the lower end of the budget scale.

Available from around the £13 mark online I think they are excellent value for money. This is a cracking price for electronic scales before we even discuss the quality, though it is important to remember just how affordable they are throughout the reading of this review, as it can be a very important consideration when buying such a product for the home. The scales come well packaged in a cardboard pack, with four robust polystyrene triangles for protection. Although I were careful when transporting the product home, I guess it could be possible that until that point they may have been handled less thoughtfully, so the packaging gave me peace of mind that I would get the product home in one piece.

Another plus point with this product were that when I unpacked the digital scales I found it almost too easy to get going. There were instructions enclosed in the box, though I paid little attention to them as I find it more fun to just find things out as I go. To use the scales for the first time you must simply pull the plastic tab out of the batter compartment to activate the power to the digital scales.

First impressions are a major selling point with this product, with a toughened glass finish and a simple but smart looking silver metallic detailing. The design is very modern, but its simplicity means that I will easily suit any bathroom without standing out a great deal. If you have guests then there is no need to hide the scales away, as they don't LOOK £13 worth of scales! They do look most impressive in any situation, and they are versatile in that sense.

As the bathroom floor is a firm surface I think this is the best place to use the scales, though I have these ones located in my kitchen as I already have a set in my bathroom. There is the option to show weight in either metric or imperial measurements, so you don't have to suffer the confusion if you are used to the old measurements. This is adjusted using the button located next to the battery compartment, so it is discreetly placed. The maximum weight that these scales will accomodate is 28stone or 180kg, meaning that most people that can walk will be able to use these scales (!).

As the design is very modern I think they appeal to a wide demographic. The digital display is very generously sized, and the styling is very simple. Although they do appear to look quite delicate, They are made from one piece of toughened glass, so there is no need to worry about them breaking! Salter are a very well-known brand and set the standard as far as weighing scales are concerned. This set carry a 15 year manufacturers guarantee, so Salter are very happy to put their money where their mouth is and back the quality.

Finally, the scales are reasonably light in weight, though not such that they will slide around on a smooth surface. Their rubber feet prevent this, and this is a very basic safety consideration for such a product. Overall I have to recommend the Salter Electronic Glass Scales - I am yet to find a negative with them!
