I must confess I have been one of the most fortunate few who has had the blu ray experience. It happened one crazy evening at a friends house.... a few beers and a couple of slices of 4 seasons pizza, lights dimmed and there she was all dressed to kill..... the Samsung BD-P 1000. I guess like many I had heard of blu ray but had never experienced it. It was all unexpected the effects the slick, stylish ,shiny, manageable, sexy, piece of technology was astonishing, maybe I was in the mood for a lift, something exciting. I had to have this DVD blu ray technology at my beck and call in my living room. At my own pace. Price.. Well I must say it did seem a good offer, for such a piece of stylish technology. Will it catch on.........mmmmmmm.....yes I do think it will. I no doubt many will have been seduced and would want a bit for themselves. Retails for just under £500.00 and is very affordable if you REALLY want it. Going by many past technology fads it probably best to wait for this piece of genius to become slightly more wallet friendly. Let the glitches (not that I saw any) get ironed out and then send it back onto the technology speed dating game.
Here's the science bit...... This Samsung technology also offers backward compatibility, (which is what my girlfriend loves) it lets you enjoy your favourite CDs and DVDs. The BD-P1000 even takes your current DVD library and upconverts it to a near hi-def experience via 720p/1080i and 1080p. The user-friendly graphic interface includes a full-color, hi-def animated menu, (which I love) with features such as advanced subtitle functions, video scene search and informative pop-ups. Two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports connect your HDTV Home Theater System and other digital devices. And Samsung's unique 10-in-2 multi-memory card slot displays 2 mega-pixel and larger images in full Hi-Def resolution.Key Features:
- Blu-ray playbackat content native HD resolution of 1080p/1080i/720p.
- DVD up-conversion to output resolution of 1080p/1080i/720p.
- BD-RE,BD-R,BD-ROM,DVD ROM,DVD RAM, DVD-R-RW+R+RW, CD ROM, CD-R-RW
playback compatible.
- MPEG2, VC-1, H.264, HD JPEG decoding.
- Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, MP3 audio decoding.
- HDMI Component Video, S-Video and Composite video inputs.
- Universal Remote Control.
- 1 Year parts/90 days labour warranty.
Now if you are a HD fan, the blu ray is still worth a evening out with. Try and do what I did, and go to a friends. Experience the technology first hand, you will see what it's like on 'the other side'The only drawback is that that disks need to be checked and be clean as this blu ray technology can get overly sensitive. A little patience is required and then you can dim the lights and experience what blu ray has to offer.... remember to turn all mobiles off and sit back and enjoy this blu ray experience
