When you buy a new HD TV it is natural to think you then need to buy a HD DVD player. These can cost you a pretty penny and the HD DVD's themselves will cost over £20 each. If you are like me then you have a decent amount of normal DVD's that you still want to be able to play but you want to enjoy them on your new HD TV. ... ...nice. If you have a samsung TV the DVD player looks awesome. They are both very similar in design with the stylish blue lights and sleek black design. It is also very easy to use. There arn't many buttons to use and requires minimal set-up. Also I have had mine 6 months now and have had no problems with it at all. I think Samsung in general have a high level of reliability and customer support.

This DVD player will upscale your DVd's that you already have. That means it will play your DVD's in the highest possible quality on your TV. There is a catch however.
Firstly you need to check your TV. Is it really Full Hd? There is a difference you see between HDTV's and full HD Tv's. A HD tv can run at 1080i. This means whilst it can be classed as High definition it is not the best quality available. Full HD Tv's run at 1080p. The little p stands for progressive scan which gives a better quality of picture. If your TV doesnt run at 1080p then this DVD player isn't for you. It will full upscale DVD's to 1080p. There are DVD players that will upscale to 1080i only also.
I love this DVD player. I have a huge collection of DVD's and now I feel I can fully appreciate them. The quality is much better. I think the difference is more evident on newer movies but still everything looks sharper and brighter. I have seen the quality of HD DVD's and I do not think the difference between them and upscaled DVd's is big enough to warrent the gap in price.
Now the price is what will sell it to most people. I bought mine for under £50 which is amazing. As a DVD player that is a good price but for one that upscales DVD's this is a fantastic price. One thing you will need to buy seperately is a HDMI cable. This cable is what allows the DVD player to play things in the better quality. If you dont buy the cable there is no point buying the player. The cables can be a bit expensive. Mine cost £20 as it was gold plated (a better conductor apparently). You must also check that your TV has a HDMI input at the back. To be honest most HD tv's do indeed have this imput as it would be silly not too. However if you allready have something plugged into it (SKY HD or a PS3) then you may need to look for a HDMI splitter which allows you to plug more than one device in the same imput!.

Another nice thing for those of you with Samsung TV's is that you will only really need one remote as my TV remote can also operate the DVD player with no set up at all.
Advantages: Good video quality Disadvantages: start troubling in its 7th month under warranty though
