The HDMI port allows for upscaling DVD's though it doesn't produce full HD so i wouldn't get it if you want the full HD effect of DVD's. The timer/display is quite small and not very ... ...it actually lights up the area around it. But really this is just nit picking like I said there isn't really anything wrong with it. Personally I wish I had just waited a little longer and bought a more expensive model, but I'm stuck with it now and will never really be satisfied, so I recommend to you all to hold off on buying this and save for a more expensive model with all the latest features. ... more

This DVD player is the one that i have in my lounge and is a great one in my eyes and i think i will have it for years to come. It goes very well with my sony LCD HDready television and was very easy to set up and also very quick.
It plays pretty much anything and has great quality and is very easy to use, i.e. the remote is very simple layout but with most features available.
Plus this dvd player is also a great buy because it is under £100 and ...

Great DVD player. Plays mpeg/avi files straight from data CD/DVDs. Sound quality and video quality both well above average for the price.
The palyer is so simple to install - 3 mins from out of the box to up and running. Once playing the controls both on the unit and on the remote are very intuitive. Inserting a data disc into the player will bring up a menu of all playable files.

At this price range it offers a much bigger satisfactory level for the consumer...!to some it may look too polished/shiny(jet black) but a sleek design with a blue light "power on" indicator..maybe too bright yet nice!...very simple setup menus,dolby digital decoding+DTS,HDMI upconvertion works superbly(1080P)and the supplied HDMI cable does the job well..DivX playback is supported..on screen menus are designed well and the remote also comes in handy..but ...
