4 Mega pixel - This is more than enough for people who 'snap'. Any more than this and you are getting into the pro's world. The pictures come out well and ... ...- Excellent. Very clear and easy to see what you are shooting at.
Zoom: Both Optical and Digital. Be sensible though. It is not an SLR so don't go thinking you'll be able to zoom for miles.
Comp link - Plug into a usb port and any PC with XP will see that it is a storage device and you don't even need to install the software if you don't want to!

After finding out the details and the price paid (£105) I felt that the more sensible member of the household had made a very good investment.
I am not a real photographer. I leave that area all up to her. After all I feel I look better infront of a camera instead of behind it.

2" screen - Excellent. Very clear and easy to see what you are shooting at.

Bad points : Battery life - Not brilliant. You can get rechargeable ones but that obviously increases the cost. Linked to batteries is the viewfinder issue. There is not one. Which means the batteries are drained by constantly switching the camera off and on. Focus issues - sometimes it autofocusses on areas you do not expect so check the image properly.
Overall a good buy and a very useful camera. Oh and I've dropped it a few times and seems to be fine so should last a decent time!

However, for taking basic pictures this is a great camera and a decent size. It is not too small that you can lose it and not big like the others which have larger viewscreens.
Overall it is well worth the money that samsung charge for it. ...

The A400 has outstanding 11X zoom and flaunts nine customizable photo frames. It demonstrates its versatility with a 2-inch macro mode that allows you to capture clear images of a subject as close as 2 inches from the camera's lens. A 2-inch LCD lets you look at your shots in detail, while eight acceptable power sources ensure that your camera will never run out of juice. Other features offered by the A400 include: multiple flash modes, adjustable white balance and selectable ISO sensitivity (auto, 100, 200 and 400). You can capture both still images and movie clips with audio at 24 fps and resolutions of up to 640 x 480 (VGA). The length of the movie clip depends on the capacity of the memory card that you use. The camera has 16 MB of internal flash memory and 4.0 mega pixel auto focus. Additional storage can be put on an external SD/MMC card. With 2.8X optical and 4X digital zoom, the A400 doesn't just take pictures - it captures memories.
