Digimax D103 - WOW!
Review of Samsung Digimax D103 by matty0501

Advantages: 10.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, easy to use
Disadvantages: Rotated photos return to origional state

...my step dad bought a Samsung Digimax D103. He bought it mainly because it boasts 10.1 mega pixels, which produces a really good picture. I used this camera on a recent holiday to Lake Garda and I am very impressed with it. The Features The camera has many different features which I have listed below: 10.1 Megapixels Optical 3x Zoom Large 2.5" LCD Easy Grip ISO 1000 Powerful movie functions (MPEG-4 VGA 30fps) 4cm Macro & Auto macro Manual ...
...can be found at the Samsung website: http://samsungcamera.co.uk/product/proview.asp?proluid=2461&catuid=11&ta bmenu=2#tabs The Samsung website also says that the camera can come with an optional docking station, but the one I have didn't. The D103 uses SD cards which are readily availably in various sizes. As the camera is 10.1 mega pixels, the pictures take up a lot of room, so you will require a fairly large capacity card. However, the camera ... Read review

Awful Battery Life!!!
Review of Samsung DigiMax D103 by  wtfwtf

Advantages: Nice pictures and set of features for the semi-pro consumer.
Disadvantages: BATTERY LIFE is terrible, the worst ever experienced. This thing eats batteries.

...an explanation that this had actually been a common problem with that particular model. So overall, great service from Currys (WILL use again), but appalling manufacturing from SAMSUNG (WILL NOT use again) - To think SAMSUNG used to have good reputation...Appalling. DO NOT purchase this camera if you wish to take more than 3 pictures per set of batteries, you have been warned.... Read review

Camera that may ruin your holiday
Review of Samsung DigiMax D103 by  vendula

Advantages: Cheap, good quality picture, user friendly
Disadvantages: Bateries need changing after every 45 shots taken, videos in AVI format

...It is probably the cheapest 10.1 mega-pixel camera on the UK market. Samsung is also good trusted brand, so it seems to be just the perfect product to buy. It has large LCD which is really helpful when taking pictures. It is very user friendly. As the pictures have such high resolution they are great. I had 5.1 mega-pixel camera before this one and you can really tell the difference. The videos you take are saved in AVI format and when you save it to PC, you will not be able to view it in the usual packages such as Windows Media Player, Real Time Player or Quick Time Player. In fact, I have no clue which program you CAN view it in! The far worst drawback is, how it sucks out batteries. If you go for holiday and plan to take quite a few pictures, you must take with you loads of spare batteries. I went for holiday, had brand new... Read review

Click and Shoot
Review of Samsung DigiMax D103 by  markcurtis7

Advantages: Quality photos and video, small, loads of features
Disadvantages: Batteries, A bit pricy (although it is brand new)

...Being new to the world of digital cameras (I've been using disposable ones for the last 4 years!!) I had no idea what to look for or what is good, all I knew was the more mega pixels the better quality. I brought this camera in the January sales for over half price (so it said) at £130, with a RRP of £300. I will be honest, I have been absolutely delighted with it although whether I would have paid £300 for it is highly unlikely. For the more serious photographer maybe it is worth that, I don't know, as I just use it for taking photos of trips, special occasions or nights outs. The D103 has a massive 10 mega pixels which give incredible picture quality. It also has a function where you can lower the number of mega pixels if you want in order to store more photos (e.g. take 6 or 7 mega pixel photos). Equipped with a 3x optical zoom... Read review

Manufacturer's product description

The Digimax D103 is a high-resolution digital camera equipped with a true-color filtered 10.1megapixel CCD and a 30x total zoom (3x optical, 10x digital), allowing you to produce high-quality, detailed photos for printing up to poster size. The Digimax D103's large 2.5" LCD has improved contrast and color reproduction for easy imaging framing and reviewing. The Digimax D103 supports ISO 1000, making it one of the most light-sensitive models in its class. This allows you to use faster shutter speeds - great for moving objects and capturing crisp images in low light conditions. The Digimax D103 has some great special effect functions - including Color Effect, Highlight, Photo Frame and Composite Shot - that give you unique, and sometimes amusing, shooting experiences beyond conventional picture-taking. You can access each of these special effects with just one touch of the "E" button. The powerful video capability of the Digimax D103 delivers a camcorder like experience. The Digimax D103 with a high-compression, high-quality video format can record up to 3 - 4 times longer than traditional camera formats providing a more enhanced movie shooting experience. Videos are recorded in VGA (640 x 480) at 30fps, with wider screen view and greater video quality so videos can be viewed at full size on a TV. The Digimax D103 automatically adjusts the shooting distance and focus from between 4cm to infinity, helping you to get great close-up shots more easily. For more detailed macro pictures the additional Macro mode allows you to take shots of subjects as close as 4cm. The family-friendly mode dial - with Night, Portrait and Children modes - make it easier to get great shots of the family by giving instant access to the appropriate mode for each individual situation. Children mode, with its open aperture and fast shutter speeds, lets you "freeze" children and other subjects in fast-moving action shots. Night mode automatically uses the slow synchronization function to help you get clearer and brighter pictures at night. The Portrait mode delivers more realistic, flattering people shots with improved red-eye reduction. The Digimax D103's print button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the D103 to any PictBridge compatible photo printer, press the illuminated print button and print! You can also use this button to transfer your images directly to a computer.
