I brought this camera last year ready for holiday and it has been immense since day one! I wanted something that had a lot of features but didnt need to be top of the range - then I came across the gem - I paid £65 for it (still sell for that price on Amazon I believe) I was expecting something that was complicated or tempormental and to my surprise it incredible!
With 5.1 mega pixel it offers a good quality size of picture and the resolution is very clear - infact I have taken quite a lot of pictures on the 1 mega pixel mode as it saves memory and these still come up amazing! (Still come up about 1024 x 768 so you can then set them as desktop) Also the 3 times optical zoom is very usuful; optical is a lot better than digital as it doesnt affect the picture quality- digital doesnt you might as well just wait and zoom in on your pc after its been uploaded! It gets pixelated--- but with 3times digital zoom you can just use that!!! A real bonus as cheaper cameras normally have lotes of digital and no optical!
The camera is easy to use and simple (my mum the most untechnological person in the world has no problems) The auto setting is the one I prefer and this takes quality picture after picture! The auto can be turned off if you dont trust the camera at night or something--- but I shouldnt worry about this as the camera is very smart and reads the environment briliantly!
I would recommend getting so rechargable batteries for it as the screen on the back is large and will drain the juice quite quickly- but expect to keep it on for 2-3 hours before that.
The biggest flaw about the camera is the video... its still great for the price but there needs to be something lol?! It doesnt compress the file very well so short clips can take up soo much space and when you watch them back you are disapointed with the quality-- If you know what your doing I would recommend setting the camera to the highest possible video settings to keep the quality and then compress it on your pc!

== Samsung S500 == I bought this camera 2 or 3 years ago. I have been using it many times, and it has never let me down. It's a good camera for general use, but don't expect extraordinary things from it. An advantage is that you are able to do videos with sound , but a big disadvantage that I discovered is that when you make a video the sound stops while you are zooming. It is good to know, because I didn't knew at first, and so I had lost a great ... ...lost some great memories. One advantage it's the size of the screen, which gives you a good overlook of your pictures, videos. Also, you can record sounds of a pretty good quality. I have been using this function several times, especially while visiting museums, recording the voice of the guide. I use rechargeable batteries, and for me they last about 100 pictures, but it also depends from the using of the flash. Another thing that I don't like are ...

Advantages: Easy to use, good LCD screen, gr8 zoom. Disadvantages: Bit to simple, gets a bit boring after a while.
If you're not looking for a high-tech camera, all you want is something that takes alright pictures and is simple to use, this camera is for you. The overall design of this camera is lovely, it's got a great shape to it, and doesn't embarrass you if you take it out. The LCD screen is large enough, to see what pictures you have taken. I've had this camera for just under a year now and we've had to exchange it twice, because it was eating up batteries ... ...exchanged it we decided to change the normal zinc carbon batteries for rechargable ones which do work. We have to charge them about once a week, but it's great to take perfect pictures with. As we're only using this camera to take pictures of the family etc, we don't really need anything that high-tech so it's perfect for us. However, there are some things that do annoy me with this camera. 1) If you get the light in the wrong place it takes terrible ...

I have the Samsung Digimax S500 for 3 years now it is a very good product.
Why well the digimax is Equipped with a true-colour filtered 5.1 megapixel CCD. Very true color pics it is able to shot in Black and white as well as other colors it is a easy to use point and shot camera it is very durable it has easy access buttons. It can record Audio as well as clear video there are just so many features. Really easy computer camera connect plus east ...

I've had this camera for about 9 months and can't fault it. One of the best things about this camera is the large display screen which lets you see the photo you've just taken really well. You can also zoom in again to see the photo in even greater detail.
I've had a few digital cameras, and used other people's and I've never known a camera to take such good photos everytime.
I've never know this camera to blur - even when I've taken photos of ... ...particulary still.
I'm very impressed with the "auto" option which adjusts well to whatever light you're in at the time. I've hardly ever had a dark or over exposed photo. Never had red eyes in the photos either.
Basically, whenever me and all my friends take our cameras out for special occasions or nights out, they're always commenting on how nice the photos on my camera are.
It's very simple and easy to use, so no problems there. The battery ...

I have owned my Samsung Digimax S500 for a couple of months now (I won it in a local paper photographic competition!) and have found it easy to use and find my way around the features. I am a very very amateur who likes to just point and shoot without having the bother of setting focus etc and this camera meets my needs. I'm not sure if I will ever find a use for the frames you can add to your pictures but this feature provided some amusment while ... ...I do like the zoom (zoom 5.8 - 17.4mm) and even found that using the digital zoom gave better results than my last camera. The continuous shot facility is great, no more trying to take the picture at just the right moment and missing the event, just take shot after shot and then delete the photos that do fail to capture the moment you wanted. The photos I have printed so far have been clear. My only criticism is the lack of a viewfinder. The screen ...
