I purchased my little Samsung E350 a couple of months ago following yet another accident with my phone which entailed dropping my trusty Nokia work phone into a cup of coffee. The Samsung E350 is a 'slide phone', something I have never given much credence to, being a fan of the clamshell/flip variety. I purchased my little Samsung E350 a couple of months ago following yet another accident with my phone which entailed dropping my trusty Nokia work phone into a cup of coffee. Annoyed because my Nokia had a decent camera and my Motorola was irritating me with it's distinct lack of features I decided to pay a visit to my local O2 shop and see what kind of deals they could offer to persuade me to part with my 'hard-earned, burning-hole-in-pocket, desperate-to-buy-phone, cash. They offered a good deal - this little beauty retailed at the princely sum of £99.99 but coupled with a trade in of £10 for my Motorola and a £20 O2 loyalty discount, I purchased this for a mere £69.99 on a PAYG (pay as you go for those of you unconversant with daft phone jargon) tariff.
This phone would not have been my first choice as I had been hankering after one of the clam shell design Samsungs since they offered thier pearly pink selves on the market, but at 150 quid, I really couldn't justify one of those. So after listening to the saleswoman for a while and outlining that I wanted as much as I could possibly get for my money, she handed my this phone and waffled for a while about it's benefits. I was sceptical, I must say, but soon won over.
The Samsung E350 is a 'slide phone', something I have never given much credence to, being a fan of the clamshell/flip variety. The front of the phone features a TFT LCD 128 x 160 Pixels / 65,536 colours screen along with navigation buttons for accessing the menus to change settings, access messages, contacts, WAP etc. Everything on the phone can be accessed from this small keypad on the front but you cannot type text messages etc - to do this and use some of the other applications, you must use the keypad which is cunningly hidden until you slide the front of the phone upwards. The slide facility is smooth and doesn't feel flimsy in any way. You can assign tones to the slide so that it makes a noise when slid open and shut - this makes me feel vaguely like I'm secretly a member of Starship Enterprise and makes me emit an internal chuckle whenever I hear it - I'm not mad - my pals actually ask me to open and close my phone so that they too can giggle over the sound..... I kid you not!

Not bad I thought. This phone has many more of the features that I need but the one that really sold me was the clarity of the camera. Compared to other camera phones I have owned (3) the Samsung E350 really is excellent - in addition to the clarity of pics, the flash facility is a real bonus, it is like the flash of any other camera when you take a single picture but if you are taking video in the dark, the flash stays on and ensures that your video is actually viewable.
Upon getting the phone home and using it I have become even more impressed. It is very easy to use and navigate - text messaging is simple and predictive text is easy to use once you become accustomed to it - though it doesn't appear to be as good as Nokia for adding words to favorites/dictionary, it is easy enough to input letters individually and swapping between predictive/special characters/numbers/caps etc is also simple.
The MP3 Player comes preloaded with a couple of tunes which along with the ringtones prove the excellent sound quality - I don't have a lead as yet to connect my phone to computer so have not used the MP3 facility extensively. Samsung invite you to join thier 'fun club' in which you can download wallpapers/ringtones etc. they helpfully give you a certain number of credits which you can spend on the above - I downloaded a few ringtones to 'personalise' my phone.
Specs:
Dimensions : 85 x 45 x 21 (mm) Weight : 75 (g) LCD Spec (size/color) - Internal : TFT LCD 128 x 160 Pixels / 65,536 colours - External : TFT LCD 128 x 160 Pixels / 65,536 colours
The only gripe I have with the Samsung E350 is the lack of Bluetooth - for a phone so packed with features, most of which are of very high quality, I would have expected Bluetooth instead of Infrared for connectivity - BUT!!! This phone has definately converted me to Samsung and I will always consider them in the future, I have always liked Nokia but feel that they are now losing ground as market leaders for ease of use and losing on features and price. I would recommend this Samsung and as such many of the others with similar features - for those who hate fussy navigation which make them feel like technophobes to the extreme, this is perfect and yet still rich in the latest technology (barring Bluetooth). Even WAP is as simple to use and navigate as the phone itself.
Battery time is good compared to many camera phones, I only have to recharge once a week, perhaps twice if I have had a silly amount of calls. Reception is also good compared to many phones I have had - in the deepest depths of Cornwall and surrounded by so much Granite, it can be difficult to gain a signal but this phone is on a par with many of the top end Nokias which I have in the past found to have superior reception.
All in all, I have found this to be an excellent phone for the money.
Advantages: SMALL AND LIGHT WEIGHT. Disadvantages: POOR QUALITY & OVER PRICED
...then started looking at the SAMSUNG phones Most of these were clam shaped with the keys being hidden on the inside of the clam until the hand-set is opened revealing them.As for me , at least it meant an end to me accidently makeing phonecalls.
I still to this day think this is a brilliant feature and one which kept me useing the SAMSUNG brand. This is what i like most about the SAMSUNG collection thus you don't or carn't knock any of the keys makeing ... ...a slightly different style of samsung phone the E350 ,this was a slide up / down style phone which id never tryed be4 and had lots of different feature which my older style SAMSUNG did'nt have like a camera a flash mp3 player mpeg4 video player as well as different games plus files can be transfered to and from your pc by the infra-red socket .
This model was the less souped up version of the D600 version and was on special offer when i got it at ...

I had been a Nokia user for many years. I had also been on a monthly contract since day dot. Just before Christmas l decided l wanted to cut back on the pennies and when adding up my monthly phone bill l realised that for what l was paying l hardly ever used my phone so decided to do away with the contract and go onto pay-as-you-go. I nipped down to Phones 4 U and started to seach the phones for a new replacement. Normally l would go straight to ... ...When closed it measures just 8cm high by 4cm with a depth of 2cm. You can put it in your pocket and not even know it was there. The first feature that immediately caught my eye was that when the phone was shut it automatically went on key lock, l was always forgetting to do this on my old phone, forever ringing people without realising it. To activate the phone you slide the main bit up. Now fully open it still only measures 12cm high. You can now ...

When it comes to buying a new handset you don't always have to look at the most expensive options available to get the range of features you need. Take the SGH-E350 from Samsung, for example. Despite an obvious omission -- Bluetooth -- and an inability to expand the internal memory, this handset has a few tricks up its slider, including a reasonable camera, a nifty MP3 player and a handy voice recorder. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's ... ...won't blow your budget either. We found it free on a £20 monthly tariff from O2, for example, or for £120 on Orange pay-as-you-go and £130 on pay-as-you-go from O2. Design
The SGH-E350 belongs to that rare genus of handsets, the lesser-spotted slider. This means it is relatively small, and at just 45 by 85 by 21mm you should be able to carry it in pretty much any pocket. It's light too: its 75g makes it a real featherweight. Of course, when you ...

Advantages: Cheap in price, stylish design, compact, bright colourful screen. Disadvantages: Slow, not alot of memory space.
Ill start of telling you about the phone's looks... the one i have is black but I beleive you can buy it in metalic silver or white aswel even though I have never seen them myself. The phone is moderatley small approximatley 11.5cm when fully open and 8.5cm when shut. This phone was released in 2005, and in my opinion, it was released to late, after the very popular d500. The D500 a slightly larger, and when first released much more expensive phone, ... ...In December 2005 I was given the phone as a christmas gift, at first I was very pleased! The screen which is 128 x 160 pixels was very bright and clear, much better than my previous phone (Samsung x600). It was not until a few months later when I had got used to using this phone that I started to not like it very much...

Advantages: Looks good, easy to use Disadvantages: Bad battery life, hard to hear people speak
Before receiving this phone, I was very exited, and having read numerous reviews I was convinced I'd be getting a great phone. I previously owned the samsunge350, and upgraded to get a better camera. Having recevied the phone however, I was very dissapointed.
Despite looking and feeling great, the screen is very impractical, and smudges/scratches easily. The rubber feel back was also covered in smudges within minutes. The main problem I found with this phone however, was that when people called I couldn't hear anything they were saying. I tried adjusting all of the settings, and even took the phone to a shop to see if they could solve it. The only advice I was given was to only use the phone in areas of high signal quality, with little background noise. Very practical. Even in these cases voices were still faint so using the phone ...

Advantages: Slim, light and easy to navigate Disadvantages: Having an Orange contract which connection/signal is always a problem
.
-APPEARANCE and STYLE It has an ultra-slim built in a sapphire blue shell and easy to slide inside the pocket. As a normal snapper, it is comparable to LG Shine model or the latest Samsung G800 but SGH-P600 is surprisingly a light weight gadget with a selection of colours to choice from. With 10.9mm thickness, it is considered as the thinnest mobile available in the market. Weighing 81grams, it is second lightest unit next to SamsungE250 and quite comparable to Sony Ericsson models in terms of weight particularly W350i. It is lighter than the Samsungs U700 and G600. The lightness is a little bit a downside which could be easily slipped from the hands or low pockets. Well, having extra space for other stuffs like keys or coin purse/wallet in the pocket, then it could be prevented from falling/slipping while sitting down.

Just to skip back to the beginning of this review. I bought a Nokia 5210 over a Samsung because I always damage my phones and I could change the casing on the Nokia 5210. I had the phone for over a year and a half and not one scratch.
I have had my Samsung for almost three months and have acquired three biggish scratches on my external screen, ?TUT?.
The Samsung SGH-E700 is a flip phone and costs approximately £350 SIM free. It came with the actual phone itself, a small light charger, the battery, which is also very light, a hand strap, a hands free kit and an owner?s manual, (which is heavier than the phone).
Here are some technical details about the phone.
