The Samsung E370 is a perfect example of a modern engineering wonder. It looks great, feels great and is packed full of features. Features that you would actually use, rather than ones that nobody would ever use and just sit there taking up room and/or memory space. For example, it features Bluetooth, but not infrared. The reason? Everyone has and uses Bluetooth as it is included on almost all new phones and is much quicker and easier to use than infrared. Therefore, infrared is not needed.
I could go on about the practicality of this phone, but I wont. Well, not for too long anyway. It has a sliding front system that hides the number, star and hash keys when they are not needed, and then places them in a very accessible position when they are needed. The sliding design means the phone is nice and compact, and will easily fit in any pocket/handbag. The screen is a beautifully bright 65k masterpiece that
shows off pictures and games brilliantly. The phone incorporates a 1.3 megapixelcamera with flash, which takes excellent photos in all conditions. There is a digital zoom function (up to 4x) and a small mirror next to the flash which allows you take photos of yourself. the camera has several levels of picture quality, allowing you to decide how much memory you want to sacrifice for the quality of you photo. The 32MB inbuilt memory is easily enough to store all the photos you would want to keep on your phone. Unfortunately, there is no port to insert a memory card, so the memory is not expandable. There is also no supplied phone-to-PC cable to allow you to transfer photos across to free up some space in the phones memory. I'm sure that they are available to buy, but it is a shame that it does not come supplied with one.
A video camera function is also included to catch those all imporatnt moments. A high quality MP3 player is also included to relieve the boredom on the train journey to work. Heaphones are supplied with the phone so you don't have to pay £30 at Carphone Warehouse or where ever, just to listen to your music privately. The E370 features a very loud and clear loudspeaker for handsfree communication or to just show off your latest song or ringtone.
Battery life is about a week for me, and I talk and text on the phone every day. Obviously, playing songs and videos through the loudspeaker will drain the battery, but the battery life is still very respectible with this punishment. Also, the charging time is only a couple of hours from flat so you can charge it while you get ready for your night out. (NOTE: Please, please, please charge your phone from flat, and not if it still has a decent amount of charge left. Charging batteries when they are not empty damages them and will severly affect the battery life after a month or so)
The E370 also includes all of the basic functions you would expect a phone to have: text messaging, multimedia messaging (which will be set up by your service providing via text message), alarm, calendar, easy to read contact list and WAP browser. There are three games included on the phone (although more can be downloaded). These are:
Forgotten Warrior: Fighting RPG
Freekick: Football game where you take free kicks against a goalie and several members of the other team
Arch Angel: 3D flying-shooting game
The quality of sound when you speak to someone is excellent, with no static or distortion. The phone will get a signal in some of the most difficult places (e.g. supermarkets) where interferance is abundant. The phone is extremely durable and is obviously built to a very high standard. If you drop it, nothing falls off or cracks, and it seems to take a great deal of punishment before any visible marks begin to show. Even the screen is remarkably resistant to scratches, and this is a very good thing as the screen is always exposed due to the style of the phone.
The build quality is excellent and at all times the phone feels solid and secure, and not as though it is going to fall apart at any minute. There are even tight-fitting hinged flaps that cover the charging port and the headphone connection to prevent dirt from getting and damaging connections.
I purchasd my E370 for the extremely reasonable price of £69.97 from Tesco on the 02 network. It even came with £20 free credit! Even without the free credit, this phone is a bargain in every way. It is small, light, full of features that you will actually use and is also very simple to use, so people of all ages can get some enjoyment from this technological marvel. This phone would suit someone looking to buy their first phone, or someone simply looking to upgrade their existing one.
