One of my presents from my wife, at Christmas, was the Samsung Galaxy Note also known as the GT-N7000. As my wife bought this for me, I don’t know the exact price of it, but it retails for about £500-600. It can be found on amazon for £519.99 at the moment if you are after a good deal. This phone is marked by Samsung as a hybrid of a phone and tablet, benefiting from the best qualities of each, utilizing a touch sensitive screen.

Technical Details

I’m not knowledgeable when it comes to the technical details, so most of these terms mean nothing to me, but may be useful to you. This phone is supposed to be ultra-portable with a brilliant Super AMOLED display which means that it has a large screen for viewing content. The screen is best described as between a smartphone and tablet size. The dimensions are as follows, (WxDxH) 83 mm x 10 mm x 147 mm. It features a fast 1.4GHz Dual Core processor which should make for speedy processing of data. The weight of this device is 178g, so it is not too heavy to carry around in your pocket or handbag. The operating system google android 2.3.

Memory

The user memory 16 GB which I have barely used and it supports flash memory cards up to 32 GB.

Camera

The camera is sensor resolution 8 megapixel with still image resolutions 3264 x 2448 and adjustable automatic focus. You also have a timer and time delay if you want to be included in your photos. The video recorder camera has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and can accommodate formats such as JPEG. A nice feature is being able to customize photos and videos using the advanced S Pen allowing you to scribble in personalized notes and drawings on your photos.

Messaging

When it comes to sending messages, the device allows you to send normal text messages, keeping a record of individual conversations, which is one thing that I really like. As with most smartphones, you have the keyboard which appears on screen to allow you to type your message. Emoticons are also available to use to help liven up your messages. I find myself using the emoticons all the time for my messages. You have the added benefit of using google talk which is linked to your googlemail email address to chat to other users. This is similar to the way yahoo chat works online.

Planning Tools

The S Planner is smart & intuitive scheduler where you can manage complicated schedules in an easy and intuitive way. There S Memo allows you to record and sketch down ideas as notes or voice recordings which is great for creative people.

Maps

If you get lost easily, the GPS maps on this device allow you navigate your way to your chosen destination. You can also download a Tom Tom application which takes advantage of the GPS as well.

Battery Life/Talk Time

The battery is bigger than those found in normal phones and is a 2500mAh battery which is apparently a strong battery which helps prolong your experience on the Galaxy Note. The talk time is about 600 min and the standby time is about 550 hrs.

Internet

The internet connection is great and you can open multiple windows which are easily accessible compared to older android phones. Your previous pages are also stored in the internet listings, which is helpful.

All the other stuff not listed above

The device comes with Bluetooth, a micro-USB, a headset jack for the radio on the device, calculator, calendar, stopwatch, alarm clock, speaker phone, a stylus pen, pull down screen to activate silent mode, GPS, internet etc.

I absolutely love the Samsung Galaxy Note and I’m still trying to get used to all the functions. It is a device that is smart in every way with great features to entertain, help and amuse you to your heart’s content. It may be a bit pricey if you buy this phone without a contract, but it is advanced enough to entertain you for years.
