    Broken within 18 months...

Looked like a good deal and have to admit the unit and speakers are a very stylish gloss black finish. Sound quality was good, as was the DVD upscale.

However, 18 months after purchase, went to power on to watch a DVD. The unit powered on, then displayed "PROT" and switched itself back off. Contacted Samsung to be told it needed to be sent in for repairs at my cost as it was out of the 12 months warranty period. The JVC surround sound system that I donated to my parents after purchase of the Samsung unit, and is nearly 10 years old, is still going strong. Not best pleased with only 18 months life from Samsung. I will not be paying for it to be repaired, and I will certainly think long and hard before buying Samsung again.
