I found this Samsung J1253 on comets website, it was £399 which may seem a lot but it has loads of features and settings which I will talk about a little later. Delivery was free so I could not complain, especially when ... ...sure. Another nice feature of Samsung is the free box of Aerial soap powder included in the machine. They include a full 10 wash box inside the drum. How kind!
When the buttons are pressed on this washer they make a variety of funky noises, I really don't know why they do this but it sure is cool, sounds like a spaceship!

Washing Machines?.. Hmm I never seem to get on with them too well! Like my last Hotpoint, it opened its doors to a new life ( In the middle of a wash cycle)! What a mess it made, and it did not stop?. It carried on like it had no worries in the world. So it was time to get a new machine.
Looking around on the internet I found a few that I liked both the looks and the features, all of them being Samsungs, so I knew a Samsung was for me. I settled on this fantastic machine in both looks and features, after all if you are getting a machine that is going to last a few years then you might as well buy it right.
I found this Samsung J1253 on comets website, it was £399 which may seem a lot but it has loads of features and settings which I will talk about a little later. Delivery was free so I could not complain, especially when I saw this in store a the time costing £495. By the way, I bought this a year and two months ago.
When it arrived the Comet man dumped a great big box on my doormat, well it was bigger than my door mat, I just stared as he asked me to sign the form thinking 'What on earth am I going to do with that?'. To my surprise the Comet man walked in and installed my new washer, even taking the old one with him as he left. Great!
Anyway this is not a review on Comet so lets get talking about the washing machine. My lovely new washing machine was there. I was too afraid to touch it as at first it looked very high tech. This machine has a screen on the front with a little electronic knob to change settings. All of the wash settings and times come up on this handy screen. But! I had never had a washing machine with a screen inside before. Time to reach for the manual. Luckily the manual saved me and I realised it was easier to use than I once thought. The manual is also very helpful I must add. Full of pictures on how to maintain your washing machine.
The machines looks ****************** This machine really does look the Bees Knees as they say! It is very stylish and elegantly made. It is all white in colour, except from a few buttons. The door is a very large all white door with a very large glass window so you can watch your washing go round and round and round.. All day long if you please. It has a nice little screen on the front as I have already mentioned and an absolute load of lights! There are 8 buttons altogether and an electronic knob. The usual detergent draw is on the top left and looks quite nice with its fancy built in handle. There is also a Blue sign stating its energy efficiency ratings ?. They like to show them off because they all say 'A'! But that's a good thing I am glad to be helping the environment at the moment, because it looks as if we are really messing this planet up! If only we were aliens, Well with a cool looking machine like this I could easily pretend to be.
Now enough on this machines looks lets get to its features. He main reason I bought this was because it was advertised to have 'Nano Particle Technology', WOW! This is basically an inbuilt steriliser which kills bacteria and smells etc and keeps your laundry healthier and fresher for longer. It is capable of killing illnesses such as the common cough and colds to the stomach bugs. GreatJ I was glad to think my clothes were being sterilised with two dogs around the house. I thought maybe less washing but unfortunately not! But this feature is not advertised for keeping stains away.
Now what settings does this machine have? *********************************** Here is a list of all of the programs available to you;
Baby Cotton - For washing Baby clothes made of cotton. Heavy Soil - For very dirty items such as rugby kits etc Mixed Load - Normal mixed laundry ( Chuck it all in ) Calm wash - For gentle thorough washing Drain - For draining any liquid that is inside the machine Spin - to spin of course Rinse + Spin - To rinse your clothes and then spin them. Cotton - For washing your cottons Coloureds - For different coloured clothing mixed together Synthetics - for washing your syntheticsJ Delicates - For delicate items such as items that can be damaged Wool - Washing your woollens Hand wash - Simulates a hand wash, Long soak time And Quick wash - To wash your clothes in 24 minutes.
Ahh there you go. As you can see there are many settings, the Nano particle setting can also be turned on with any of these cycles just by pressing the silver Nano button.
What I really like about this machine is the fact that you can customise your own wash. If you do not like the inbuilt manufacturers wash cycles then all you have to do is shout ?No I aint using it!?. Well you don?t have to shout itJ Just clicking a few buttons to create your own cycle will help.
Inside the washing detergent draw are three compartments, the usual as with many washing machines. The first one is for powder, the second (Middle) is for the fabric softener and the last I am not too sure, anyone know? I believe it is for pre-soaking but I?m not too sure. When the washing machine is spinning I must say it is extremely quiet. It is honestly hardly heard and sounds like my Hotpoint machine did in normal rinse. It is such a good thing as I can easily put a load in over night and not disturb anyone, but once! It decided to start walking. In spin mode it must have started rattling because I had not adjusted the feet correctly and the drain pie fell out spewing dirty water all over the floor, erghh.
Washing Machine maintenance ************************** Now unfortunately you do need to maintain your machine but it is fairly simple. You need to keep the inside of the drum and the surrounding of the drum totally clean to keep everything in tip top condition. A wipe with a wet wipe does this great. There is also a drain filter that will need cleaning maybe twice a year. This is found in the bottom of the machine pulling out a little flap. This filter catches anything that you may have lost in a wash, such as keys and coins. We even found a cheque book in there! I was looking for that for ages. Also keep the detergent draw free from that gunk lik soapy stuff that likes to linger in there when you use power other than the liquid detergent.
One thing I have not yet mentioned is the drum size, the drum on this model is a nice 7KG in size. Pretty big, it sounds small but the amount of clothes and sheets I get in there is amazing. I can wash around about 5 sets of bed clothes and it works fantastic. I do this once a week and changing the beds is made a whole lot easier. If only this had a dryer that came on automatically after it has finished its mission, that would be great, maybe in my next Samsung
Overall this is a fantastic washing machine if you have a rather large family or children, the sterilising feature is great and helps keep hygiene levels up. I know this machine is a lot of money but we have used this 3 times a week for over a year and it has been absolutely trouble free. I absolutely love it, unlike my old Hotpoint that caused endless amounds of trouble.
Samsung supplied us with a 1 year warranty that luckily we didn't need, hopefully this will last a lot longer, I shall keep you all updated.
