Despite the fact I had absolutely no need for it, I let our penultimate CRT style TV (more traditional style) go off to live with a friend and headed off out to get a new Samsung LCD TV for the spare boudoir, oh get me! I used the excuse of space saving, but the reality is I'm a gadget freak, and I'm sick of moving chunky TV's for the hundreds of times we move. On a more subconcious level in the back of my mind I have a another game console purchase in mind and both the HD slots in the back of my office TV are both taken, but less of this little people have big inquisitive eyes and like to see what I'm writing about.
Installation is easy, simply plug your aerial into the back, switch on and let the TV take control, having tuned itself in even sets its time.
Practically speaking this is a better purchase, the old TV was a 24 inch model, a bit chunky, and not nice to look at. This 19 inch model, is sleek with a nice shiny black case and takes up less than a quarter of the room of the old spare TV. The built in freeview is an added bonus, now I can dispose of the freeview box that was wired up to the old TV, saving electricity and of course space. The downfall being is that there is no electronic program guide, as you go onto each channel it tells you what is on now and next, but that is it.
The TV picture is as good as it can be, but like with many LCD TV's at times a little grainy. Poor quality images look far worse here, with clear and decisive faults painfully obvious. That being said, a nice crystal clear image is a dream to behold, a thing of great beauty in fact. To test out the TV I sat and watched Star Wars shortly after purchasing this TV, something I had not considered watching on our larger screen TV's. The clarity of the picture made the film look like it had been made yesterday, with vivid realistic colours you feel you can reach out and touch.
Where the TV's problem lies is in its sound, while Samsung deliver an impeccable picture for good quality images, they offer poor delivery of sound. So much so that in order to clearly hear sound you need to turn the volume levels up to about 40 on its scale of 80 points; I just don't understand the point, at 10 you cannot hear a sausage so why not just reach the point you're looking for quicker? On top of this the volume from the actual TV(or built in freeview transmission) is a lessor volume than DVD, Blueray, or Console volume; meaning that you need to consider turning the volume down before finishing using one of the other methods, especially late at night or you won't be popular with family of neighbours.
The TV's remote is quite big, with lots of buttons that might confuse people, there are 52 buttons in total; but it does provide control of other Samsung products i.e. DVD player. Annoyingly still and I know this is just laziness, but with a scart connection if you put a DVD into your player the TV automatically goes to that channel, when connecting the DVD via the HDMI slot it does not, meaning if you're watching in the dark, with so many buttons you need to switch the light on to get the right channel. One final negative is that like my other Samsung flatscreen TV there is a warm up period of about 15 seconds from powering up to delivery of a picture, not a great deal if you turn the clocks back 30 years, but to some degree it does feel like going back to the days where you had to "warm up the TV".
Despite my grumbles all the flaws I was aware of prior to purchase, and knowingly bought a new TV expecting them. You can't beat a good picture, you can't beat a bit of space and energy saving; but most importantly you cant beat a brand that you can rely on and Samsung are certainly one I trust. With a quick turnaround when issues arise (I personally have had none but know of friends who have) and a product that looks of this age Samsung provides hard to beat reasonably priced goods.
The TV has two scart sockets, two HDMI sockets, as well as the three plug AVI option to the side of the screen. I paid £199 for this from currys in November and am thrilled with the purchase, that has had substantially more use than I expected.
Advantages: Easy to use, looks great Disadvantages: Wonky remote, No off button
I bought this 19" Samsung television in white, mainly because I'm an interior design nut and it matches my bedroom better. I've had it for three months and am delighted with it so far.
Advantages:
- It was very easy to set up - I had it out of the box and on all by myself before him indoors got home (probably the first time I can say that of any electronic device, ever). Got Freeview working straight away, as soon as I had worked out which cord ... ...stylish indeed - as well as being a great colour, it's nice and curvy - almost space-agey.
- The screen is easy to adjust, and picture and sound quality are excellent.
Disadvantages:
- The remote control is attractive (long and lean), but strangely designed - none of the buttons are where you'd expect them to be. But I've managed to get used to it pretty quickly so this isn't a major complaint.
- It doesn't have an off button as far as I can ...

Firstly, lots of research was done for this purchase of this Television, as i wanted to make sure it was the right one for me.
I looked around for a while and out of all of the Hd ready Lcd Tv's , this had by far the best quality picture, and its a well known make so i knew it was trustworthy. Also for the type of tv set, it has pretty good sound! infact much better than some of the sets i saw.
It comes with plenty of connections i.e scart and ... ...also be used as a wall mount if needed.
Another thing that swayed me was that The price was right. it was one of the cheapest for the size of the Tv and by far the best of this kind, i saw a few others for under 200 pound but they just were not worth buying because the picture was not as good.
a great tv for a bedroom or a smaller room :) ...

Advantages: Very Stylish, Good Brand, Nice Picture. Disadvantages: Sound.
The look of the LE19R86BDX is very nice with its glossy black finish i think it would look great in any home, Ideal for smaller rooms, i have mine is the bedroom and it looks very stylish. The speakers are hidden away and i think that just adds to the looks. The picture quality is quite impressive, i only watching with freeview but the picture is very good, with HD i think it would be superb, there are various picture setting tweaks as expected and ... ...of connections round the back, everything there for the majority of people. Although i really like the TV i am only giving it 4 stars because it is let down by its mediocre sound, the sound from the TV is very average, but for a TV of this size thats not a major problem. Overall then i very stylish second TV for a smaller room. ...

Well I was really looking forward to this set arriving for my stepsons Christmas present. Having ordered it on the 20th December with a delivery date of the 23rd, I was surprised to find that the order had been cancelled by Beyond Television (Beyond Belief now in our family) as apparently the delivery address did not match the invoice address. It did as I had noted that they would not deliver an online order to other than the invoice/billing address ... ...mobile telephone number but omitted to call me despite "putting the customer first" as per their web site. Today (23rd Dec) I called to check that they really had cancelled the order and to see if they wanted to try delivery tomorrow. They had and delivery tomorrow did not seem to cross their mind.
I have therefore ordered a bigger more expensive set from Amazon who I have dealt with previously.
Sorry Beyond Television, but this is the first and ...
