I purchased the the Samsung ML-1610 between 2 and 3 years ago and paid £99.00 which I thought was excellent value for a laser printer. It was the cheapest laser printer onthe market at thetime and I'll admit I wasn't expecting it to be a great printer. I was intending to replace it once I had the money to get a better quality one.

Looks-wise the Samsung ML-1610 laser printer is a great looking printer. It is quite compact and been well designed with nice curves and esges. A very similar design is still being used with most of Samsung's current printers.

The printer prints with reasonable quality. It takes quite some time to start up before it prints (this is when it is heating up to almost melt the toner to the page which is why pages come out of a laser printer warm), but when it starts printing, it can print off several full pages of text very quickly.

The printer can now be picked up for just £50, best place I've found to buy: e-bay. At this price I would definitely recommend it. Many people are put off by items that seem too cheap, but this is a surprisingly good quality printer. From a good manufacturer such as Samsung, at £50 it really is a steal.

It is really designed more for letters with its small memory and only being a black and white printer (monochrome).

This printer would be great for small businesses, though I wouldn't expect it to perform too well in a large office where it would be constantly in use. However, saying that I print using it daily and have never had any problems (touch wood). If you are for example selling on e-bay, then this is great for printng tasks as printing postage labels, packing slips etc, whereby you want that quality look of laser printing but don't need a high end, expensive printer.

The toner lasts for quite a long time, especially if you use the Toner Save function. Astonishingly, despite printing at least a couple of sheets daily, I have owned this printer nearly 3 years and never had to change the toner. Always use printer frienldy page options, really goes a long way in prolonging your ink/toner. However, when the toner does run out on this printer, they are very expensive to replace and for the price of the printer you'll be better off just buying another printer. There is of course the option of refilling the toner, however this can be a very messy job. And I must point out that the toner powder can be harmful so I would not recommend refilling a toner cartridge.

The printer can hold a good amount of paper. It can hold 150 sheets of paper in the paper tray. Unfortunately the paper isn't enclosed in the printer which would have made the printer more aesthetically pleasing. It also would prevent the problem of dust gathering on the top sheet of paper when the printer hasn't been used in a little while.

The printer is very easy to use. With just one button and an on/off switch to remember, this is really a fool proof printer.

Overall this is a nice printer. If this is your first laser printer then it's a nice place to start. A top product at a bargain price from Samsung.
