Samsung ML 2850DR

Advantages: Very simple to use, reliable, excellent print quality
Disadvantages: tempermental software

...BACKGROUND After owning a series of inkjet printers - Cannon, HP, Lexmark and Epson, none of which lasted a particularly long time, I brought a Samsung ML1210 Laser Printer. The problems with the inkjet printers usually stemmed from their flimsy plastic mechanisms- pieces snapped off and springs stretched, snapped or simply fell off. Further the price of the cartridges were astronomical, especially the colour cartridges that never seemed to last very long. At the time of my transition to Laser printing, the majority of my printing consisted of essays for my degree and letters and invoices for my partners business. I had always believed that laser printers were too expensive as I had looked at them a couple of years earlier and could not find one below £800.00. Advantages: Refillable toner cartridges, economy ink setting
Disadvantages: slightly noisy, takes a while to warm up

...We have been using a Samsung ML1510 for club printing for approximately five years. That printer is still going strong and is now with the current club secretary. So judging by that experience I decided to buy a ML2010 as I anticipate a lot of printing for my research project. It was excellent value for money. I bought it from Ebuyer; I ordered it online at 4.30pm and the printer had arrived by 8.30am the next morning. The main advantage of Samsung printers is that the toner cartridges are so easy to refill, saving the extortionate amount for a new cartridge every time. The afore mentioned ML1510 has run on refills the whole time making it extremely economical to run. Disadvantages: only black and white, fairly big
