It's the typical Samsung design, gloss piano black, nice glass top on it, in frank, it looks stunning!
When you turn it on the buttons just appear on top of the unit, lighting up under the glass, it's all touch sensitive and works very well. The volume dial gets a nice red glow appear around it and a display appears on the front of the unit.
The front of the unit is also nice and clean, there is a small flap ... ...socket and a headphone socket.
On the back of the system you have the 2 speaker connections, standard phono in sockets, a connector for the Ipod dock that is included and the socket for the radio aerial.
First things first. The unit has FM and DAB radio. I managed to get one station on DAB, but that is because the reception in the room I was in was rubbish. To get the one station I has holding the aerial in some very ... more

The front of the unit is also nice and clean, there is a small flap on the bottom which hides the CD drawer, a USB socket and a headphone socket.
To get the one station I has holding the aerial in some very odd positions. When i did get a signal the radio was clear and sounded good.
Next was time for CD's. There is a CD that tends to get a lot of play in our house. Pink - I'm not dead.
On it went. We have a good mix of Rock type songs, ballads, some accoustic. A bit of everything really. In short it was a great sound. Crisp and clear, no distortion at volume. I was mightily impressed! The only down side was the time it takes for it to skip tracks. It's crazy how long it takes to simply move onto the next track.
Finally came the point that we bought the system for. To play music off of my IPhone. The stereo was sold as being iPod and iPhone compatible from the site that my wife bought it from. I connected the iPod dock, which is an external small dock which connects via cable to the back of the hi-fi, and plugged in my phone.
Stright away I get a message saying that the unit isn't compatible with the iPhone (on the phone). It will still work but it suggests that you disable the phone functionality to aviod interferance. Not great, but no big show stopper. I ignored the message and left on the phone functions and the sound was great.
BUT
and it's a big But
It's a but the size of Meatloafs butt. It's massive.
I then tried to select a song to play.
You can't.
I've called Samsung, and confirmed it with them and they say that this is the design of the system. The stereo will ONLY play songs off the connected iPod in alphabetical order.
You can't select a specific song, You can't load a specific album, no artist selection. It will only take EVERY song you have and arrange them by the track name in alphabetical order.
Now some iPods hold 160Gb of music. That's roughly 40,000 songs.
The only way you can get through them on the system is with a next and previous track button!
You want to listen to track 32,458.
Good luck!
You'll need a fair few batteries for your remote and a fair bit of time to skip through them all!
I've had this confirmed by Samsung. This is the only way to do it!
The other problem is that you can only listen to songs. I have a selection of Audiobooks and Podcasts on my iPhone. There is no way these can be played.
This seems to be a massive oversight on Samsungs part and is a big enough problem for me to have returned the stereo.
(On a separate note, is some places this model is being advertised as the MG329GR)
