I bought this netbook for several reasons,
1. It's long battery Life
2. It's 'ruggedness'
3. The samsung brand and quality.
I think the sound is very good with a even some hints of good bass, it doesn't have that 'tinny' sound of my old laptop.
So far the battery life has been ok, I charged it to 100% and get about 8-9 hours of web browsing and movie watching. If I play games this drops to about 5-6hours.As for the ruggedness I was a bit disappointed as to the finish of the casing. It is just a hard plastic with s-shaped ridges, I think I was expecting something a bit more rubberised. However it does seem quite resisting to scratches and I haven't found a fingerprint on it yet. The free fall protection can be a bit annoying as it pauses movies even if you just move too quickly. I don't want to drop test my netbook but I am sure this protection would have some benefit.
As for perfomance my expectations have been exceeded. I was a bit concerned about getting a netbook, but the start up time is great, I can have lots of apps open without much slowing down and I have even managed to play some old games such as civ4, diablo and starcraft.Overall I enjoy using my laptop and love that I can make the battery last for a couple of days without recharge - also it recharges very quickly, only a couple of hours.
Win7 Starter has been great. Some people complain about not being able to change desktop background, but you can still change the theme(i set mine dark to dark colours like black so that the screen uses less power) , It starts up very quickly, faster than Jolicloud which I tried for 1 day. And it works seamlessly with all the network tasks I throw at it.
