I purchased this TV about two months ago and so far it has been nothing but a pleasure to use.

I had originally decided to buy the PS42Q97 model but was told by that particular retailer that it was an end of line model and out of stock as a result.

They then offered to sell me the PS42A457 for the same price and after discovering that the specification was actually slightly better I decided to go for it.

The TV itself looks very slick with its black glossy finish, took minutes to setup and after some minor tinkering with the colour and contrast settings provided an excellent picture quality and there are many other features you can use to customise the picture quality further.
I compared it with a Friends PS50Q97( which is the older,slightly bigger model) and can't find any real differences in terms of picture quality, sure, his has a bigger screen and PIP(Picture in Picture) technology, but unless you really are looking for those things in particular there isn't a big difference between the two.

For those of you planning to use this as a PC monitor as well, it certainly does the job through a standard VGA cable but is limited to 1024x768 and does suffer from minor burn in when use for prolonged periods of time which I found a bit disappointing. Of course you do get what you pay for in most cases and this TV is no exception to the rule.

Overall verdict; I'd have to say this TV is certainly worth the price and apart from some very minor burn in issues and the fact that the glossy finish loves collecting dust I would highly recommend it.

i bought this plasma 1 month ago and so far its been pleasure to watch. Standard broadcast (eg;freeview,sky,) is very good for plasma, and afcourse HD is great. Blacks are deep and contrast is also good but not as good as on LCD tv,but view angles are perfect compare to any LCD,all togheter i think this is a class 1 plasma.highly recomend it. You would not be dissapointed in this pdp,but make sure you get the a457 model as there are more models(a456,a451) they not as good as a457 model.
