I have just purchased this set a few weeks ago, namely for my fiancé who just loves plasma so I thought I would spend that little extra and opt for a 50inch! Was it worth it…..
First impressions suggest it was worth it. I have seen some pretty attractive 50in plasmas, but this one really does take the biscuit. Everything about it reeks of quality, from its beautiful glossy finish to its deep silver/black colour scheme and minimalist, elegantly sculpted lines. (mine is black) It is very slim, though a little hot, probably best not to hug it when its on!
The PS50Q7HD’s budget price will be noticeable concerning the TV’s connections?. It only has one HDMI socket and two Scarts. Such a TV really should provide more of each, at least one extra. The no part is the inclusion of a D-Sub PC input, and a couple of jacks which immediately prove the presence of a built-in digital tuner: a digital audio output and a CI slot for subscription TV channels. It has Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tracks and a suitable surround sound receiver.
The digital tuner is very eye-catching and is far from the only feature to make this superb TV stand out. it’s also HD Ready (due to the component video jacks which are alongside the HDMI). A sufficiently high native resolution of 1,366 x 768, and full compatibility with 720p and 1080i HD formats.
It has a contrast ratio of 10000:1, an incredibly high figure that rivals other high end plasmas.

If you shop around you can find it cheaper than what I paid for it. And, it really is well worth it considering most plasmas at this spec and size are 2-3K in price.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Well I must admit I was a little doubtful about paying a thousand pounds for a fifty inch plasma tv. I mean come on what sort of rubbish was i going to end up with? Well, I will tell you! There is absolutely nothing bad that I can find to say about this TV at all. LOOKS:
The moment you remove it from the box you will see it is stunning. It has beautiful clean cut lines with a glossy black finish that is in a different league ... ...a boring silver colour. But this is far from the best (untechnical) feature about this tv but i'm afraid you will have to read on to find out what that is !!! TECHNIAL(ISH) THOUGHTS:
On a more technical note, well as technical as i can get! Navigation around the tv's features is very very straight forward, you have every button on the remote that you need without doubling up button functions or adding extra ones you don't actually need. The picture ...

I bought my 50" plasma from Comet. I was actually intending to buy a 42" Plasma but when I saw this one, I loved it. The price was right too. I got mine for £1100; Comparing well with the 42" Plasmas and this is a 50"!!
Great! I bought it and here is what I think:
Great picture and sound quality. It also has many menu functions being a Samsung. One downside is the size - Ironic. I had to get a VW Taxi bus to get it home and that was £50 - who wants ... ...heavy and I recommend two man handling. I am tall and managed to move it into the house myself but I do not recommend this. Do not lay it down flat because this might cause the display (which is under tremendous high pressure gas) to burst.
It is almost a year old by now and still perfect. Colours are great. The picture quality is very sharp and the viewing angles excellent. This is HD so do not worry about all the jargon. This will work with all ...

My son and I paid half each to buy this as a Christmas present for him and it has been amazing from the minute it was installed. Not being very technically-minded, all I was expecting was just a larger screen but the sharpness and clarity of the picture puts it in a different league to anything else. We have it in an average sized "double" bedroom and although our viewing chairs are within eight feet of the screen this doesn't diminish the impact ... ...Although it was in my opinion a luxury item (at a luxury price!) it is certainly worth every penny. We also have installed a surround sound system which enhances the quality even further. I personally liked the appearance in that there is only a small "margin" or "frame" around the actual screen. All in all, a definite winner. ...
