I bought one of these in March 2008.
It's the first laptop I ever bought, so I was looking for something cheap, good-looking and that works well.

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors, dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
Advantages: Big screen, Cheap, Big Hard Drive, Nvidia graphics, just very nice! Disadvantages: Noisy fan, glossy black cover can scratch easily

The keys are nice although they have worn a little on mine already, after only a few months, but then I use them a lot, I have now moved to a wireless mouse and keyboard to save the life-span of the keys and mousepad. The mousepad has also worn a bit and has ... ...got the same grittiness that it first had.
It runs very smoothly, I've tried a few of the latest games on it and it runs them fine for my standards with its 2GB Ram, and I have plenty of room for films and music/photos or whatever with a 250gb Hard Drive.
I did have a slight problem with my cd/dvd drive making a really loud clunking noise everytime I tried to read something from a disc, I sent it back to the seller and ... more

The keys are nice although they have worn a little on mine already, after only a few months, but then I use them a lot, I have now moved to a wireless mouse and keyboard to save the life-span of the keys and mousepad. The mousepad has also worn a bit and has become "not very nice to the touch" where it hasn't got the same grittiness that it first had.

I did have a slight problem with my cd/dvd drive making a really loud clunking noise everytime I tried to read something from a disc, I sent it back to the seller and they apparently fixed it but I'm not sure that they actually did because it still seems to make the same noise. It reads fine though.
A common problem that I have heard about this laptop is that the fan can be quite noisey, for the first few months I did not notice this at all but recently I have started to notice that it does make quite a loud noise - but it's not so loud that it is annoying or anything, just noticable. It also gets quite hot under the laptop, so you do have to keep the air vents from being blocked at ALL. I tend to keep mine on a flat surface like a table or a box.
All in all I actually give this laptop a 9.5/10, it is very good for the price paid for it and I believe it has actually come down in price since I bought it so that's even better value for money. If I had the choice between this and any other budget laptop I'd choose this everytime, great for gaming, digital art, programing, internet stuff, whatever you need!

Review of Samsung R700 Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz - 17" TFT
Advantages: Features, value, build quality, big screen Disadvantages: Can't run games on high settings, gets hot easily
I've had this laptop for around a year now and I have been quite impressed with it. I originally purchased it for £550, looking for a laptop for university work, music production and some gaming. It fulfilled all of these tasks to my expectations.
The first thing to say about this product is that it is very sleekly designed - finished in glossy black it certainly looks the part. While some people may prefer smaller laptops, I don't think I could ... ...touchpad feel up to standard and haven't broken yet on mine - something I cannot say for other laptops I have used. The keyboard has a full number pad too, which is ideal for me as I play games using the cursor keys and often map commands to it.
The build feels solid and I have taken mine about on adventures, and again, nothing has broken. The only thing I will say is that my battery doesn't last as long as it did when it was new, but I think this ...

Quick review of Samsung R700 Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz - 17" TFT
I purchased one in March. Very powerful, bright clear screen; nice keyboard with good tactile feedback; useful backup programme but the other software is lacklustre; hardfile could be larger but is adequate for me; Vista runs smoothly with the 2GB memory. No problems at all to date (4 mths).
For the money it is a good buy. ...

Advantages: Great value for money Disadvantages: A bit Heavy (not really a grear disadvantage though!)
Having got rid of my desktop PC due to space restrictions in our 1 bed flat, I have been looking for a 17" laptop within a tight budget. After doing some research I came across this laptop and it arrived yesterday. As mentioned its for the flat so portability is not a priority as it is a tad heavy. It comes with Vist Home Premium, the screen is excellent. I like the full size keyboard and the feel of it is excellent. So far its run everything I have ...
