I bought one of these in March 2008.
It's the first laptop I ever bought, so I was looking for something cheap, good-looking and that works well.
I came across this, lovely sleek black samsung R700, it has a nice big bright screen, so looking at it is great and it is easy to work on. Great for doing digital art/programming on.
The keys are nice although they have worn a little on mine already, after only a few months, but then I use them a lot, I have now moved to a wireless mouse and keyboard to save the life-span of the keys and mousepad. The mousepad has also worn a bit and has become "not very nice to the touch" where it hasn't got the same grittiness that it first had.
It runs very smoothly, I've tried a few of the latest games on it and it runs them fine for my standards with its 2GB Ram, and I have plenty of room for films and music/photos or whatever with a 250gb Hard Drive.
I did have a slight problem with my cd/dvd drive making a really loud clunking noise everytime I tried to read something from a disc, I sent it back to the seller and they apparently fixed it but I'm not sure that they actually did because it still seems to make the same noise. It reads fine though.
A common problem that I have heard about this laptop is that the fan can be quite noisey, for the first few months I did not notice this at all but recently I have started to notice that it does make quite a loud noise - but it's not so loud that it is annoying or anything, just noticable. It also gets quite hot under the laptop, so you do have to keep the air vents from being blocked at ALL. I tend to keep mine on a flat surface like a table or a box.
All in all I actually give this laptop a 9.5/10, it is very good for the price paid for it and I believe it has actually come down in price since I bought it so that's even better value for money. If I had the choice between this and any other budget laptop I'd choose this everytime, great for gaming, digital art, programing, internet stuff, whatever you need!

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors, dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
I have a nice little ACER laptop which was pretty cheap for some decent specs. This one looks very nice though... might have to se about upgrading! -FT
