Samsung R710

This is the Samsung R710, it combines good looks, with really good features in order to make a very nice laptop for various media uses.

Its made by Samsung, they don?t really make that many laptops however there products are know not only for quality but also for how cool they look, many of their electrical ranges are so popular just for how they look and this laptop is no different.

The laptop is the just the same old basic laptop shape with the same old screen attatchment and if it wasn?t for the base of the laptop would look quite poor. The base however really does make this laptop.
Its black glossy shell looks really modern and its touch of red glass like look across the front adds to this cool looking laptop even more.

Its ram is also very impressive too, it offers you a full 3 gb of built in ram to power your laptop with. Also the Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor can run this laptop at speeds of 2.4 Ghz which really makes this laptop feel very fast indeed.

It also offer a huge hard drive to store whatever you need on it, it has 320 gb of storage space so whatever you need to store on there, you know you?ll have room for it. Some high spec laptops seem to let us down with storage space but its good to see that this one doesn?t in the slightest.

The screen on the laptop is fantastic too, and is really what makes it. Its 17 inches which is large, but somehow on this laptop it just appears that little bigger than on others of the same size.
Its resolution is 1440 x 900 and its super bright gloss technology that Samsung have built into there screens means that every thing appears just that bit sharper and glossier.

As you would expect with such a big screen, the laptop must be quite big. And of course it is. Its almost 40 cm across, this is about 10 cm longer than most. Its nearly 30 cm in depth, which again is quite a lot more than the average laptop. However it still remains quite thin, its only 3.8 cm high which is only a touch thick than the smaller basic models out there, so this is quite impressive.

To say its got a big screen, and its running at fast speeds its really good to see this laptop have a decent battery life. It lasts around 3 hours which is very impressive indeed, however I can only imagine that this will be used mainly plugged in around the home anyway, but having good battery life is important none the less.

Of course the laptop isn?t really that portable, its large and it weighs nearly 4 kg, however it does have good battery life so as long as you not taking it too far than yes it is quite portable.

As far as extras goes, this laptop has them all. It has a 7 in one card reader which can read SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card, MMCplus, SDHC Memory Card.
It also has a built in Integrated webcam, which may only be 1.3 mega pixels however its still there and might save you going out and buying one. It also have 4 USB ports as well as a HDMI port and VGA port too.

This laptop looks fantastic, it runs very quickly and has a huge amount of storage space. Doing work on this, playing games on this and pretty much doing any thing on this laptop feels really good.

It is however very heavy, quite chunky, and if you want something smaller then this really isn?t the laptop for you.

The price of one of these, will start fro around £600 for the lower spec edition and the higher spec edition like the one I reviewed will be around £800. Its not bad for the great features and speeds that this laptop can give you.

I recommend this if you want not only a very stable, powerful laptop, but also want a very good looking laptop as well. This is a good buy, however if you need something this quick, or that looks quite as good then it is probably a waste of money.
