THE EYE-CATCHER IN THE LIVING-ROOM
Since we are eating fish and korean specialities (like kimchi, etc.) regularly our old fridge had to suffer. Or the other foods which were located inside. So we were forced to eat the bought foods on the same day, or we had to use special, air-tight boxes which we could only buy in Korea, so the smells could not be transfused to milk and Co.
But by-and-by this was going to be bothersome and so we planned the acquisition of a new refrigerator. Thereby my mum had in mind to buy a refrigerator in american/korean style: this means, a 2in1 attachment, existing of a fridge and a freezer, side by side, plus the handy consideration of a box for drinks inside the fridge and a water and icecube dispenser in the side of the freezer.
So we went to the electronics specialty retailer and searched for a fridge freezer of our favourite brand of Korea: Samsung. After a little while and conversations with employers, we found our favourite, and we bought it quickly. Now I want to write to you about my darling in the living room.

Now the fridge freezer is of our favourite brand Samsung which also manufactures digital cameras, mobile phones, TV’s, and so on. It has two doors. The fridge-part and the freezer-part are separated through one door each. The fridge-side is located right and the freezer-side can be found on the left side.
In the freezer-side, nearly in the middle of the door, there is the icecube and water-dispenser located. Through the clicking of buttons one can choose if the ice should be crushed or in cubes, or if the fabrication should be stopped at the moment.
The ice is manufactured directly of the water which will also come out of the water-dispenser. It will be sourced out of an aqueduct, hence the fridge-freezer should stand close to a water conduit. This is no problem, since the fridge-freezer is free-standing. Provided was also a cleaner, to free the tap water of lime and dirt and to make it all pure. Though it is secured that you will have pure, tasty water.
The fridge-freezer has the highest class of energy-efficience. This menas, it is excessively low-current and works effectively. The frige-freezer is completely metallic coloured in a beautiful silver shimmering colour and it looks fancy.
Fridge and freezer are separatetly controllable over a control panel at the left side, though at the freezer-side. The buttons can be found left and right of the control panel for the water and icecube-dispenser. It is controllable manual and very simple to handle.
The ground-level compartment in fridge and freezer are both out of a firm, strong and milky glass. Through the special nofrost system no frost and no bothersome icicles will emerge. Both sides offer enough room for eatables.
We have purchased our fridge-freezer for ca. 1600 € at Media Markt. But I do not remember the exact purchase price. It’s apparent that today the best price lies at 1.040 €. That means that he had cost more in the past. The highest price today lies at 1.500 €.--------------------------------------------------------------- Where to buy? ---------------------------------------------------------------
One can find it in every bigger electric specialist shop, for example Media Markt.

„Since its founding in 1938, SAMSUNG has maintained a mission statement that responds both to its own change, and to new developments in the world: "Economic contribution to the nation," "Priority to human resources," "Pursuit of rationalism." Each slogan represents significant moments in SAMSUNG's history, reflecting different stages of the company's growth from a domestic industrial leader into a global consumer electronics powerhouse.“
--------------------------------------------------------------- my opinion ---------------------------------------------------------------
I love our fridge-freezer. I don’t know what we would do without it. Maybe we would have to continue to drink milk with the taste of kimchi or garlic, when we forgot to close it in an air-tight box. Or we had to go shopping more often than now, and always in little portions, so that everything can fit into the little fridge.
Since our kitchen is shortish, there was no space in it for this huge gadget, so it had to find it’s way into the living-room. Now it is standing between the corridor, the guest-bathroom, living-room and kitchen, and it’s beams from inside. It’s really an eye-catcher. At with it’s shining metallic colour it’s fitting perfectly to our Schneider TV with flat screen.
It’s indispensable for us now and since we got it. And it is really handy: the little installation-fridge and freezer accomodates now fish and other stinky foods, which can join each other (*lol*) and in our fancy fridge-freezer from Samsung there is meat, cheese, milk, fruits inside and everythink what you need additionally, too.
Since the fridge-freezer reaches nearly up to the ceiling, and also has a large width, accordingly there are lots and lots of room inside. And the milky glass-plates inside give the inside a good structure and a strong hold for the things one can keep there.
It the fridge-side inside of the door there are several recesses with enough space for 8-9 bottles. Then there is another recess for glasses, tubes of mustard, glasses of marmalade, etc. and then over it a plate which is separated with a hatch of plastic. When you open it, there is another storage space for butter, marmalade and Co.
Then inside there are two plates and a separate storage space, where one can put in everything that needs cooling. Between the first and the second plate seen from the bottom, there is a extendable appliance, where one can keep food for breakfast and so on, such as bacon, cheese, sausages, etc. At the bottom there are two separate boxes for fruits and vegetables.
In the freezer-side in the door there are also two recesses, which offer storage. Over it, there is the fixture for the water- and icecube-dispenser. There are three plates in the inside, where one can keep pizza, icecream, tart, etc. Over it, there ist he icemaker, an appliance out of plastic, where the water is conducted, and where the ice is created through it. But I don’t know exactly how it is made.
But this appliance is in every case a very handy invention, although it takes some place in the freezer-side. One doesn’t have to freeze ice for onesef, but only can push a button and take the ice out.
And the filtrated water is very good and tasty. One just has to hold a glass under the appliance, has to push it to a hand gear, and then fresh, pure water comes out automatically. Great! In this way tea and coffee taste better, too. But the cleaner should be exchanged every once or twice a year. One cleaner costs 20-30 euros and they can be purchased in the electronic specialist shop, too.
I love our fridge-freezer and the price should not terrify you: quality has it’s price. :-)
Advantages: Great build quality, HUGE fridge capacity, wonderful ice and filtered water 'on tap' (excuse the pun) Disadvantages: Expensive replacement water filters, ice can shoot out at all angles, limited freezer capacity for big families
I find myself in the unusual position of reviewing a product that I didn't actually go out and buy, because I didn't want one. I actually won this fridge freezer in an instant win scratchcard competition at Blockbuster Video last year. Yes, I know I'm a lucky sod and you're all jealous... *wide grin*.
Having now had the product installed in my kitchen for a year, I feel that I've gained enough experience to give you a good insight into this awesome ... ...BIG in way that only Rik Waller's suit fully understands. Measuring 91cm (36 inches) wide, 66cm (26 inches) deep, and 176cm (69 inches) tall, it could easily house a couple of dismembered bodies. It's advisable to measure your door frames before ordering this fridge, because - wait for it - it's made even bigger by the fact it comes in an oversized box, and is enveloped by huge slabs of moulded polystyrene (a flagrant example of unnecessary packaging ...

~~~Hang on don't Samsung Make TVs~~~
Well yes they do, and I have a couple of televisions in this house made by Samsung, and I must admit I'd never thought that they also produce household appliances. Personally, I've found all the products from Samsung to be of high quality and very reliable, and that includes this fridge.
~~~How ... ...very nice gentlemen who were employed by Samsung. Now this is a very large fridge, it wouldn't actually fit through the front door complete, something you may need to think about. But the helpful deliverymen, removed the doors and just about managed to squeeze it through. Once they'd positioned it in the kitchen they re-attached the doors and connected all the electrics. Now they were willing to also plumb it in for us, but as we didn't have a connector ...

...they also said that the samsung helpline was great and a larger hole was to be bored so to stop freezing occurrence of their icepipe.
The unit was probably the cheapest of its kind that i had found whilst searching. i, personally used a price comparison site and fount one for about £650 including delivery, then thought i would try a bidding site, for which i saw it for £550 with free delivery if you live within 25miles (which unfortunately i did ... ...of it is great.
one of the set backs possibly is that the freezer space is taken up quite a bit by the ice machine - about a third. this makes the fridge : freezer quite large, but there is still plenty of room in there for my freezer stuff as we buy in a lot of fresh stuff anyway. To combat this, the fridge also has a twin cooling system by which you can keep fresh stuff in the bottom of your fridge, and it keeps them crisper and fresher for longer. ...

Advantages: Cold water and ice from the door, large size of fridge and good freezer Disadvantages: Need to keep the in water container topped up, and expensive replacement filters
...comfortably. Style – The Samsung RS21KPSV1 is a side-by-side American style fridge freezer, which at 90cm wide is a good 50% wider than standard fridges. It is almost about 10cm deeper than the standard 60cm depth of kitchen work surfaces so be aware it will stick out a bit if placed next to existing standard size kitchen units. Features – A key differentiating feature for me was the availability of ice and cold water straight from a unit housed ... ...issue is the cost of Samsung filters – I personally have started using Pozzani filters which have worked fine for a quarter of the price. Summary. I feel it is a good deal buying this style of fridge freezer if you need the extra cooling and have the space for it. I think many like I could start to prefer the plumbed in option though refilling the container isn’t that much of a hassle. I do also think the Samsung replacement water filters are a bit ...

...to source one direct from Samsung within my specified timescale, and their courier were then able to deliver it on my chosen day. I do advise though that if you want it delivered on a specific day, you order a month or so before you need it, then follow up the order with the supplier directly.
Couple of other things to watch out for...
- The model number: The basic fridge unit is the "RS21". The J adds water/ice dispenser, and the L adds the CoolSelect ... ...Black Glass. Check your model number carefully. There is a wide variety of models out there, and they all look subtley different, so make sure you get all the letters and numbers in the right order to get your chosen model. Many web suppliers will show images of different colours and layouts to the one you want, so take care!
- This fridge is the twin-cooler model. It means that the fridge and freezer use different cooling circuitry, which increases ...
