I wanted something that would complement my Samsung TV, which would not involve lots of speakers, so the 2.1 configuration suited me. The product is a lot larger than I'd assumed,set-up was dead easy, connectivity is limited as to play my sattelite through the product I had to buy an additional lead which connects to the aux input. Sound quality is adequate, at higher volumes this product performs best. There is no way to manipulate the subwoofer volume, though there are built in sound settings. Picture quality is marginally better than standard DVD. If you are looking for a dedicated surround system......this is not it. Saying that, it's a nice piece of kit, looks fantastic, has the facility to plug USB peripherals into it, and for the money, good value.
