I have wanted a new digital camera for a few months now, as my old one had become very tempermental, and would only turn on about 50% of the time. I had dropped a few hints to my mum and dad before christmas that this was the case, and so on christmas day I was very pleasantly surprised to find the Samsung S1065 when un-wrapping one of my presents.
Basic Overview Of Product
The Samsung S1065 is a 10.2 megapixel compact digitalcamera, with a 2.7" LCD screen to the rear of the body. It is silver in colour, but also available in pink and the body is made from very robust metal. The front of the camera has a slight bulge for your right hand and all of the controls are to the rear and top. It has a 5X optical zoom and built in flash.
What Is It Like To Use?
This camera is really good. The LCD screen is a really good size at 2.7" which is handy as there is no viewfinder, however my last camera had a viewfinder and screen and I never used the viewfinder anyway so will not miss it on this one, the sceen is also very handy for viewing your pictures on. The 5X optical zoom will be really handy when I go on holiday as my last camera was on 3X I haven't needed to use this yet really, as only really used the camera on christmas day and new year. This camera has loads of different features most of which I have not used yet, but a couple I have like the scene mode which allows you to choose from a range of different pre-set possibilities like candlelight, dawn and sunset, each of these has pre-set settings which make the camera take the best possible picture in each of the named settings. Also the face detection is really good, this automatically recognises a face when you take a picture and focuses on the face and optimises the focus on it.
Are The Pictures Any Good?
I have developed 50 pictures today at Asda and I have to say they are really good quality. I was expecting them to be somewhat better than my old camera as it was only 4 megapixels and this is 10.2, but this really does make a lot of difference and in comparing my new pictures to some taken with my old camera they appear three to four times better in my opinion.
Price And Availability
I do not know how much my camera cost as it was a present for christmas, however I have seen it on Amazon today for £74.00, this is an absolute steal in my opinion for this great camera and I would reccomend it to anyone.
