I put off installing for several days as I thought it would be difficult but it really is plug and play - 10 minutes later I was printing (and that includes the time taken to move the old printer out of the way and boot up the computer!)
Printing is quick and easy and the ... ...is so useful - I had not realised how many times I was nipping out to the local shop to do the odd copy. It will do multiples and has adjustment for normal, dark or light copies. Even pages of books can be copied with ease - great for children with homework to do.
I have not managed to get the scanning software working yet - but that may be more me than the printer - I need to seek help! Even then it is such a bargain for printing ... more

Printing is quick and easy and the ink seems to last for ever.
Copying is so useful - I had not realised how many times I was nipping out to the local shop to do the odd copy. It will do multiples and has adjustment for normal, dark or light copies. Even pages of books can be copied with ease - great for children with homework to do.
I have not managed to get the scanning software working yet - but that may be more me than the printer - I need to seek help! Even then it is such a bargain for printing and copying that I am not complaining.
Would recommend to anyone wanting good fast black and white printing and copying.

The Samsung SCX-4100 is a good black-and-white laser printer but lacks on the copier + scanner .
i only use it to print off letters or long docements as the pics come out ok but i prefer to use my colour printer for pics.
the SCX-4016 i think is better but it costs around £60 more .
what i have found with the printer is that it can print up to 15 pages per minute The SCX-4100 is compatible with Linux but not with Macs which is a downside but still ... ...which is useful
the toners cost's about £40 - £50
That makes the SCX-4100 the bargain choice in my mind the simple spec of the scx 4100
