The SEF-42A flash offers the creative photographer vertical bounce and horizontal swivel and the sophisticated circuitry couples perfectly with the PRO815.
Advantages: completely automatic when coupled to the E series Olympus, two batteries, very adaptable Disadvantages: Can be slow to recharge when using nimh batteries
A great medium power flash which synchronises perfectly with the Olympus Evol series of digital cameras. I have used it with my E-500 and the results are pretty good. Like the camera, the more you understand what it does the better you can make use of it.
There are several modes available to the user including forced flash, fill-in and normal. The flash automatically recognises what focal length the zoom lens is and adjusts its flash level accordingly. In use this has been faultless. Its always been accurate and the flash level has been right for the zoom.
Unlike many flashes, this one only uses two batteries (AA) which means its quite cheap to run and its easy to have spares in your bag. The head is completely flexible giving full rotation and tilt up to vertical. There is a small diffuser for ultra wide angle which stores away ...

I expected this, after all it's a small source of light.
SECOND TEST
I then ...
Advantages: Sophisticated Flash Technology Disadvantages: Perhaps too sophisticated for many
place after you've taken a picture. There is no whining noise as the batteries recharge. It is important to mention though that the flash is noisy on occasion because it comprises a zoom flash head that makes a bit if a buzz every time you use it.
In conclusion I would say this is a petty advanced flash unit that gives excellent results. It might be a bit too confusing if you're as beginner and it's not exactly on the cheap side. However, for those wanting to move up a grade, this flash should light up the way.
