The Samsung C100 is a great phone for the novice, occasional user who wants something which looks good, from a reliable brand name with a colour screen, some fun games and good polyphonic ringtones.
The phone has infrared connectability, but downloading ringtones, screensavers and games is most easily dome using WAP or GPRS. Annoying for some will be the fact that the C100, like most other Samsung phones, does not support the most readily available tones and games (the Nokia compatible ones). However, I had little trouble tracking down some good sites to download from.
The polyphonic ringtones are excellent, and I was able to load six or seven quality games on the the phone before I hit memory restrictions. The screen size is smaller than standard colour screens, but was more than adequate for game playing (I particularly recommend Puzzle Bobble, which you should be able to find on the internet). Samsung also have a "Fun Club" where basic tones, screensavers and games can be downloaded using earned credits.
The menus can be annoying to click through. Finding numbers from the phone book requires three or four clicks. Making calls is not, however, a chore. Sound level and quality was good.
I highly recommend this phone for those in need of something that is compact and "looks the part", but who can't justify spending mega-bucks on a "top of the range" mobile.
