Advantages: Stylish, thin and a phone! What more can you ask for? Disadvantages: Keypad can be irritating and battery life is short.
When Samsung introduced the new "Ultra Edition" phones I just had to get one. Rather than advertising the phones individually, they decided to promote them as a series, containing 3 phone types, the X820, D830 clamshell and the D900 slide phone. I previously owned a Samsung E720 on an Orange monthly contract and was very pleased with the functionality and ease of use, so decided to go for another Samsung as an upgrade. Luckily for me this was excellent ... ...touch sensitive keypad. The Samsung D830 is defiantly better suited to those who prefer to call, rather than text, and charge their phone regularly. That said, I would have to recommend this phone to anyone.

Advantages: Very thin, stylish durable Disadvantages: Camera, supplied heaphones
Recently got this phone to replace my Sony Erricson W850i (it got stolen :( ). First off it is a very very thin phone, you can barely feel it when its in your pocket, have to keep tapping my pockets thinking i've lost it. Sound quality for calls is very good and it seems to get a fair bit of reception. I nabbed this off my mum who got it for free on her Orange contract, and im Virgin and my sim worked straight away so im thinking they might be all ... ...bad what you would expect for a camera on a phone really, i tend to use my digital camera for decent pictures, and wouldn't rely on my phone for taking good pictures same goes for the MP3 feature, which i havnt used yet as the headphones that came with it seem pretty cheap and tacky and you can't plug in your own. The W850i that i had before was good as an MP3 player with the 1GB memory and decent headphones. Most of this phone if made out of metal ...

Quick review of Samsung SGH-D830 Review ofSamsung SGH D830by
hoppopotamus
this is a very slimline phone, so slim that my boyfriend struggles to open it! it looks very good and is easy to navigate, most of it is excellent. the keypad is a bit non-sensitive, but better than the motorola ones. the camera is excellent but doesn't have a flash, and once the battery gets to two bars it dies really quick.

Advantages: Slick, easy to carry around, stylish Disadvantages: touchscreen style keypad may be hard to press for some, no camera light
The D830 is a very good camera phone to take around, especially when you are going for events where you do not want to be seen carrying bulky items in your bag or pocket.
I was contemplating getting either the D900 or D830 but finally settled on the D830 as in my opinion, sliding phones tend to have more disadvantages such as accidentally calling someone while the phone is in your pocket. Caused by the phone sliding open and triggering the button.
... ...not have such an effect. Easy to slip into any pockets, including girls... Also, the inbuilt functions are pretty cool. The picture quality for the camera is pretty good in 2MP for those considering that as part of a criteria. Touch screen styled keypad which really makes others envy. At least my friend who had the D900 said 'wow! your phone has touch screen keypad! so cool!!!'
Disadvantages: no camera light, touch screen style keypad slows down ...

Advantages: good features, small and lightweight Disadvantages: too small for some
...The SamsungSGH X830 is a slim line swivel phone which is very small and light weight. The size of the phone is W30 X H84 X D20 mm and its total weight is a small and impressive 72g. Some people may think that because the phone is as small that it may not be as good as some other mobile phones on the market, but this small phone packs a punch and is full of features. The mobile is not your standard Samsung slider or flip phone, the X830 is a swivel phone, basically you just push the side of the phone and it swivels round and doubles in length and in turn revealing the key pad. I really love the design of the phone because it fits snugly in the palm of your hand, it can fit into the smallest of handbags or even your pocket and it can remain unnoticed and concealed.
I think that the overall design and appearance of the phone is quite...
