While any using just case will keep your phone in better condition than leaving it out to the elements most cases are badly fits and make the phone a real hassle to use. However this case fits the phone like the proverbial glove and there is a perfectly aligned opening for every button switch and port. The standard of the leather was also noticeably better than other cases I ve tested so the phone is not only protected but feels comfortable in your hand and against your face; which is important if you spend a lot of time with it there This is a Multidapt case which means that you can clip it on securely and easily to any of Krusell s Multidapt fittings. The range of fittings includes arm bands bicycle fittings belt adapters and much more. After trying out a few of these I can confirm that they all produce a quick and secure way to hold your phone I m particularly fond of the arm band adapter as I can just slap the phone on my upper arm when I m working on something requiring both hands and get it back at a moments notice. After 18 troubled months with the 6111, I decided to do a little research first to try and avoid some of the problems I had just encountered over the past 18 months.
After visiting shops, ciao and searching the net, I settled on the new Samsung D840 and so I dragged my dad along to the shop and we purchased 2 new phones, one for me and one for my sister.
As we had also decided to switch network providers and were getting a new number, we got the phone for free on a good deal with £10 off the line rental and 600 free anytime minutes and 500 free texts a month.
The Packaging:
The phone came in the usual rectangular box, made out of a textured, plasticy feeling material, and looking at the front the box informed me I had the 'Samsung D840 Ultra Edition'
I opened up my box and inside was: • The phone (a sliver Samsung D840), • An instruction manual, • A charger, • Headphones, • Some advertising leaflets.
The Phone:
The phone was a sleek silvery chrome colour.
The dimensions were: 99 x 51 x 11.9 mm, and although initially this appeared fairly large to me compared with previous phones I'd had, the fact that it was so slim seems to cut down on the weight of the phone (100g).
Looking at the front of the phone, it has a large 2.12 inch screen, below which is the usual navigation buttons, a button to connect to WAP in the middle, surrounded by 4 short cut keys, which you are able to program yourself to your most commonly used features. Also to be found are the left selection key = menu and the right selection key = contacts (when key pad is activated), the on/end call button and the green call button and a cancel key.
The phone is a slide phone and when it opened, reveals the number/letter keypad.
On the back of the phone you can find the camera (2 megapixel) along with a tiny mirror (maybe for taking pictures of yourself?) and the flash.
Phone Features:
The features of this phone are: • Bluetooth - allowing it to connect to other Bluetooth devices, such as other phones, headsets, car kits, printers and digital cameras. I found this feature useful as I connected it to my old phone to transfer across photos, etc.
• Camera (2 megapixel) - This phone has a very good camera, I have taken a few picture using it and the results are very good, the pictures are very clear and has a good zoom range. The photos taken are in jpeg format. There are a number of features with the camera.
Shooting modes: You can take single shots, multi-shots and mosaic shots, Effetcs: black and white, negative, sepia, antique, moonlight, fog, no effect, Frames: there are 24 frames to choose from, from simple photo frames to comical frames such as diving goggles in the middle of the screen with fish around to give your subject an underwater theme, Flash: off, shooting only, permanent, Tiimer: off, 3 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, Camera settings: size options, quality, viewfinder, shutter sound, zoom sound, brightness sound, white balance, ISO, Camera shortcuts: set camera features to the number keys,
• Connectivity - Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, USB, WAP,
• Music Player - you can save music files in .MP3, .AAC, AAC+ or M4A format to the phones memory or onto a memory card. The music player enables you to fast forward and rewind during the songs. The music player has options such as repeat mode and shuffle songs and can be set to carry on playing even if the music player is exited.
• Polyphonic tones - the phone comes with 14 preset ringtones and also has the option to downloaded sounds or music as your ringtone.
• Video recorder - the video recorder is found with the camera.
• Triband (works in the USA),

File viewer - open document on your phone in .doc, .xls, .ppt, .pdf and .txt,

Extra Information:
The address book memory = 1000, Operating frequency = GSM 900/1800/1900, Phone memory = 70mb with memory card slot which will take it up to 1GB, Memory card type = MicroSD, Standby time = up to 250 hours, Talk time = up to 2hrs 30mins, Vibration alert,
Disadvantages:
As I said, the 2 main disadvantages I have found with the phone are that despite visiting a number of shops, they have never had any USB leads in stock. The other option would be to buy a Bluetooth dongle which are around £35.
The other disadvantage is that you are unable to set the phone to vibrate and play a message tone, which for me is a rather minor flaw and doesn't really cause me any inconvenience at all!
Overall:
Overall after having the phone around 3 weeks, I have found it exceptionally good. It has a wide and varied range of features which provided me with all options I would want from a phone!
Advantages: Beautiful to look at. Slim and lightweight Best looking mobile on the market. Disadvantages: Poor battery life and charging light that doesn't dim
...LG Shine and this, the Samsung D840. I have had Samsung mobiles in the past and proved to be extremely reliable as well as durable phones (i.e. you can drop it when your drunk and it won’t smash, although I haven’t tried that with this model so don’t take my word for it!) whereas I had no experience of LG mobiles, but had had a few faulty LG microwaves (but that’s another story).
My choice was based of three things – 1) It is equal 1st with the ... ...of grey with a small Samsung logo & Olympic Games logo (world partner). The full name of the mobile is given in modern stylist text placing great emphasis on “Ultra Edition” ( Samsung D840 )

The Samsung SGH-D840 is best known for the thin and sleek shape. I purchased this phone £149.99 on the network orange. The phone is a updated version of the D820 but thinner and a upgraded camera. Overall the Samsung SGH-D840 dimensions are (99mm x 51mm x 11.9mm) which even to me is completely tiny! The front screen is a average 240 x 320 pixel 262,000 colour job but it’s completely reasonable. The screen can however become smudged very easily through, ... ...eye, and really noticeable. The phone does come with a wide range of features, some weren’t useful to me such as the multiple language option, and however it can be useful to others! The phone has blue tooth and PC sync which are always desirable to exchange data. The phone also has picture Id and ringer ID so you can decide whether you want to pick up the phone! I received the phone free when taking out a new contract with Orange, I have owned it now for about 8 months. Bundled in the box was the phone - The Silver "ultra" edition of the phone, a hands free kit/earphones for the built in music player, charger and instruction manual. Aesthetically it is a beautiful phone, and extremely simple to use, it has all the normal functions that you would expect from a phone these days, text, WAP, a few games etc, ... ...for a micro SD memory card (not supplied). It has a large screen, and a 2 mega-pixel camera, with a video function.
Unfortunately, I don't feel this phone was designed with a high usage user in mind. the phone has a great slide up function which is great for size and making the phone more astatically pleasing, but and it is a big but I have had to have 2 replacements because of it. The phones

A lovely ultra slim phone, excellent picture quality, good battery life span, great size and lovely silver colour.

Advantages: Feels like you have your moneys worth. Strong and damage is no issue Disadvantages: Bit wide for young hands and screen gets greasy.
I brought this phone off Ebay for £104 which was quite a bargain as you would expect from that site. First thing I brought this phone for is the metal design which is wonderful for someone who drops their phone a lot as it is less likely to cause any serious damage. When I first touched the phone it felt comfortable in my hands, but would recommend people aged 16 or over to use this as phone is pretty wide for an average size teen hand. I instantly ... ...great, but the ease of use of the keypad is an advantage. This keypad is also used on the new U600, which I believe is Samsung's best phone yet.
Taking the back battery cover off is difficult but I don't see this as a problem as it is unnecessary to remove it occasionally, having it tight also makes the feel of the phone safer. Safety or damage is not is not an issue unlike many other plastic phones.
