I like my mobile phones unglamorous but very very functional and this is what i hoped i would get from the E780.
I ad previously had the E700 and E720 and so knew roughly what i was getting.
The design of the E780 looks superb. It's sleek, smooth, sultry black design make it perfect for working males such as myself. It is ultra thin (1.2cm when closed) and so fits in your back pocket beautifully.
The 2 MP camera is excellent offering resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 and images are easily transferrable to a PC via a readily available bluetooth device.
The only real disappointment for me is that the Video camera option is very very poor. The thing i liked most about the Samsung E720 was that you could record videos on 320 x 320 resolution meaning you could bluetooth them to your PC and have a decent nearly full sized screen picture. I used it virtually to death and even made a DVD up from it of footage of my new born Niece!!
Sadly the E780 has only one available resolution for video recording 176x144. This is obviously fine for viewing what you've recorded on your phone - although the quality is grainy even on "SUPER FINE" quality. But if you bluetooth this across then the quality on PC is bearly watchable.
Bearing in mind that this is supposed to be a step up from the E720, i find it very poor of SAMSUNG to supply the E780 with such a poor video camera option.
One other, small point is that the number buttons of the phone are sunk into the phone and all at one level and so are fiddly and take getting used to.
Overall, it's a good phone, that hasn't really taken off i don't think. I don't think the differences from the E720 are good enough truth be told. However, what you have is a devilishly handsome and reliable phone that will serve you for a number of years easily.
