This is by far the best phone I have ever had. I previously had a Sony Ericsson phone which I was very disappointed with so I quickly changed it for the Samsung Tocco as testing have previously owned Samsung phones & have been extremely pleased with them as i am with this. The first thing that stood out to me about this phone was the size of the screen which compared to other phones I have had is huge! It is also a very slim phone which for me adds to the appeal.
When I first bought this phone back in June I couldn't wait to get home & try it out & I wasn't disappointed! In the box comes all the standard features like a charger, pc studio cd-rom & a usb cable. The only thing that I feel should have been included is a memory card as
I know Sony Ericisson are now including them with alot of their models. The Pc studio is very easy to install & use however I find it quicker to use my memory card adapter to sync the phone to my pc.
Setting up the phone is very simple it just asks you to enter the date & time & even offers you a tour of the features included I personally skipped this feature when setting up my phone but for people unfamiliar with Samsungs it could be a welcome accessory.
This is definitely the most customisable phone I have experienced most prominently are the widgets on the left hand side of the standby screen. You can easily decide which widgets you would like on display & which will be hidden either by getting rid of them on the settings or simply by putting the more appropriate ones at the top of the list therefore shadowing the less appropriate ones. On the standby screen you get a list of options on the bottom of the screen (dial, phonebook & menu) this makes it quick & easy to navigate between options.
This is the first touch screen I have & after having a quick go on the iphone I would have to say that the touch screen on this phone is outstanding, it's very responsive reacting quickly to the lightest touch. I was a bit worried about texting on this phone as at first I was very slow but after a day or two of getting used to it & using the predictive text feature I was texting even quicker than on my previous phone with a conventional keypad. I did find that when using the predictive text feature that when a word is not recognised & you input it the phone doesn't always remember the word so you may have to enter it every time however considering all the bonuses of this phone I happily put up with that feature.
There isn't alot of memory on this phone for music & pictures considering it holds a 5mp camera although with a memory card of 1gb or higher you can easily store all your pictures & music on it. I currently have 567 pictures stored on my phone with room for alot more.
I have experienced a few problems with the calling on this phone as occasionally after about 15 seconds into the call it will cut out & I will have to ring back however this happens very rarely & i have learnt to live with it as I absolutely love this phone! The volume on the calls is very good with a range of high & low volumes & the speakerphone is just as good & also very clear which I noticed straight away as on other phones it tends to be crackly & hard to hear the other person but this is great.
The camera on this phone is amazing, it has 5mp & in my opinion this is all you need. I actually got rid of my 10mp camera after buying this phone as although it has better quality I thought it was unnecessary as the camera on the samsung is great for a phone & is just as good as any camera I have owned. The video feature for this phone is also good however lacks some of the quality I would have liked it to have. It makes up for this in sound quality though.
The Bluetooth device is very easy to set up & link to other phones. I currently have it connected to my Bluetooth headset & my sat nav & although these can't be used at the same time it would be pointless if it could be anyway!
The internet on this phone is ok, not great but if you desperately want internet on your phone you should consider buying an internet phone. There is an fm radio installed in the phone which is a welcome accessory as I have discovered not all phones have them anymore. It holds a music recognition application which I have found very quick & useful to use.
All in all I would rate this phone a 11/10 it has a few dud features but these are completely out-weighed by the positives & I would recommend this phone to anyone out there as it is simple to use for such a new phone but also very stylish & reliable. BUY IT!!!
Samsung have done it again!!!! You're right! They made another s**tty phone! I hate this phone so much, but your review is like sunshine on a rainy day. Good review, but I maintain it is a wretched phone!
