Having come to the end of my 18 month contract with o2, I gave them a ring to see what kind of upgrade deals they could offer me. As I didnt have a clue what the latest models were or what they did, I asked for a recommendation...
Due to high demand of this particular model, I had to wait almost 6 weeks to receive the handset, but it soon arrived in a box that stated it to be " the photographers choice".
Is it a phone or a camera? I hear you ask ... It's both!

With its very generous 2.4" display screen, it is a modern and stylish handset, which being slightly thicker of build than todays handsets tend to be, feels amazingly well built and resilient. You don't have the constant worry that it will be crushed beyond repair beneath the overloading weight of your makeup bag - which yes, does need to be permanently nestled in the midst of your bottomless pit of handset because gentleman ... you just never know!
What attracted me most to the phone, apart from the recommmendation from the mobile wizard in the call centre I spoke to on behalf of o2, is that it has a top of the range 5 megapixel camera with a xenon flash (pretty blue & bright as hell ;p). Therefore, being a huge fan of the new DIY photo development machines found in asda where you can bluetooth your photos across and print them off there and then, I was delighted especially with my 18month old little boy being up and around and not able to sit still so I would be now able to catch it all in high quality.
There is also the added feature of 3 x optical zoom which means that I can zoom in on my choice of subject without apparently degrading the quality of the photo. Excellent in my opinion as all my past phones have gone fuzzy at the slightest zoom!
However, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the photos overall. Although still outstanding quality compared to other phones, they always seem to be very dim & dark even when using the extremely upto date xenon flash. But the camera itself is as expected. Being able to switch from taking photos from the front or rear is a bonus and also being able to edit them too!
Apart from the camera, you have many other features to look forward to such as the internet which is very easy to access from the main display and is just a button click away. I also find it very easy to us, unlike other phones which just seem to jumble up the web pages into a swirl of colours and odd words here and there.
The memory of the phone is also very satisfactory with 30mg, which is great for the music player so i can bop along to my favourite tunes and also the video recorder so that I can capture my favourite moments in real time rather than still life!
Of course it also has the standard features of blue tooth, triband & media messaging all of which I find very easy to access and use, although I have found the bluetooth to be a little on the slow side when transferring from my phone to others but very quick on the uptake from others to myself. You will find it under the settings option.
I find the battery life to be very good averaging 4-5 days and only taking a couple of hours to fully charge. The reception is also excellent. I am currently staying at a relatives home which has bad signal and where as my partner has to run around the house like a headless chicken when on the phone I can quite happily sit lounging on the couch watching what i want for a change taking full advantage of my all in one gadget!!
Overall I believe this phone is of excellent quality and I have all of the features I could ask for! For my circumstances anyway, it may not be perfect for everyone, but for every day to day use and photo addicts like myself, you wont find a better phone at the moment. All you have to decide now is whether you want to use it as a phone or a digital camera!

...In your hand the Samsung G800 feels strong and well made. Turning the phone on i noticed how nice the screen was, also very clear and crisp. Colours are also vivid and bright. The slider mechanism is very good, when compared with that of the N95 the Samsung wins hands down. Having owned around 5 N95's i've a fair idea of the differences between the two handsets. The reason for comparing the G800 with the N95 is as we all know because the two handsets ... ...and are clear to read, this is purely because the font is "very large" when compared with other phones of the same type. The U600 font is much smaller anre therefore looks much better. This is one of my dislikes about the phone, as you are unable to change the menu font size or type. The system sounds are good and the speaker is fairly clear. Loud though it is not. The N95 is somewhat an exception as the speakers on the handset are extremely good. ...

I own the phone myself, at first I had to get used to the size of the phone, but once I had, I learnt to love it. And now i truly can't do without it. It helps me with Art projects and Photography projects as if i'm out and I see something that inspirse me, and have no digital camera, my phone is in hand!
It comes in a package which holds 2 memory cards, USB cable, Radio headphones and a very helpful guide ...

Bought this mobile more than one month ago and used it just for a month. I bought it online without going to the shop. this mobile is very stylish with nice finishing of the body. If you have any doubts about the size ... it is quite thick, you can definitely get something thinner even previous versions of Samsung, however this is completely understandable when taking 5MB camera under account. I have given it away as I did not use it so much in terms ... ...this phone. So far made 'few' pictures. This camera take very nice pictures outdoors, indoors, vary, depending on lights etc. Made few pictures with flash during nights out. The flash is bright enough to take such a pictures. If you think you will take loads of pictures when you go out with friends etc. take it. It has many effects (negative, sepia etc.) and great camcorder. I would not consider this as a main camera when for example you want to ...

As a normal snapper, it is comparable to LG Shine model or the latest SamsungG800 but SGH-P600 is surprisingly a light weight gadget with a selection of colours to choice from. With 10.9mm thickness, it is considered as the thinnest mobile available in the market. Weighing 81grams, it is second lightest unit next to Samsung E250 and quite comparable to Sony Ericsson models in terms of weight particularly W350i. It is lighter than the Samsungs U700 and G600.
