Unlike most folk half my age or younger, I only want a mobile phone that does what it's supposed to do - make calls, send the odd text message (particularly useful in my circumstances as my wife is nearly deaf and cannot use a normal phone). I don't really need the latest gizmos and bells and whistles that some mobiles come with. So, how does this Samsung measure up? To start with I was fairly impressed. I'd say 5 stars for value for money, as I got it for free on a Virgin contract at a tenner a month for 100 minutes / 100 texts - plenty enough for my needs. The music player is very good, though I hardly use it, the games are decent enough to pass a few minutes from time to time, the screen is lovely and clear, and the menu system is simple and easy to navigate through. The camera is fine for 'fun' photos, the software for the PC link is well featured and easy to use. To be honest that's about as much as I've used of the phone's functions, so this review is based on that. Downsides? The touch sensitive buttons are far too sensitive to begin with, meaning you can have problems hitting the wrong key at the wrong time, especially if you have chunky fingers! What's worse now on my phone is that one of these keys doesn't work at all - the backspace key for use in texts, which can lead to some weird spelling mistakes on my part if I'm not ultra careful. That can be rather frustrating when you get halfway through writing a text and make a couple of errors, and have to start over again because you can't edit it. Hence the 3 star review. I may well be unlucky with my phone though, as others don't seem to have had any such problems. Battery time - seems average to me. So, would I recommend this phone to others... yes but with some reservations about the touch sensitive keypad.
