The J-700 comes available in either metallic black or pink so it's stylish for boys and girls a like though I do consider this more of a 'girly' looking phone with it's long slender smooth appearance. The phone is a slide up which are my favourite kinds. I always feel like I will smash the screen with flip phones and with standard ones, the key pads always get accidentally pressed and you call someone unknowingly. With a slide, the key pad is protected by the front screen. A simply push upwards eaily slides the screen up with a click to reveal the keypad and locks securely into place. All the keypad and buttons light up when this happens and go off shortly afterwards to save battery life. The timing for this can be adjusted in the settings tab.
The whole phone is shiny and smooth. There are 2 holes in wither side of the phone, covered by a flap to insert your earphones for the radio and MP3 player and one for the charger and phone to computer adapted. The phone comes with the software to install into your computer so that photo;s music and video's can be downloaded and uploaded. It's really easy to install and simple to use. There is also another little buttons with an up and down function for volume.
The screen is a nice size and can be customised with a background wallpaper which can be your photo's you wish. If you receive a voicemail or text message, it will stay highlighted in a big text box on the screen for you to notice. The date and time are set across the top of the screen aswell as battery life and signal strength.
The battery life if very long and I can easily leave it on for a couple of days with the life going down only by 1 bar. However, this only applies if you have the phone slid down and not up. I also have adjusted the light settings so that it doesn't stay on too long and waste battery. When battery is running low, the battery symbol flashes and a beeping noise is sounded.
When you get onto the main menu, you have all the usual tabs which can be click on by using the little circular mouse pad. It's not a touch pad and the sides and top of the ciruclar pad have non-visible buttons which you click. You have:
Messages
Vodaphone live
call log
phonebook
Applications
my files
Settings
Camera and video
Planner
By phone is pre-installed with vodaphone. Vodaphone isn't a bad network to be with. Texts are 10p, picture texts 25p and calls 20p per minutes. However, they are doing a fantastic offer called the 'Simple price plan' which allows free unlimited texts weekdays and weekends after 7:30pm as long as you top up £10 a month! The only downside is that you aer charged 20p to listen to voicemail messages which are stored and deleted at your discretion. Vodaphone don't bombard you with annoying irrelevant texts and you can easily access your account details online.
One downside to the phone is that the camera is only 3.2 Mega pixels and you have to slide the phone up to access the camera on the back - this means it's difficult to take sneaky pics! However, there is no shutter sound when you're taking pics and there are a lots of application to enhance your pictures, such as night mode, continuous shooting, frames, sepia, emboss, emotions etc so overall, it's a great camera. Moreover, when you upload the pics to your computer, they are really big and of excellent quality. The video has no limit and goes on for as much memory is available.
The radio is of good quality and easy to use. The Mp3 players takes a little while to get used to and to get all your songs on, plus, it doesn't store many at all so you'll need extra memory. I personally don't use the mp3 player on this phone; I have my own separate one (see my review of the Samsung).
You can add your own ring tones without the need to download. Simply transfer them from your computer to the phone. I also have a customised wake up ring tone for work in the morning and you can set up to 5 different alarms.
There is a calculator, calendar, converter, memo, stopwatch and timer also, so it pretty much has everything you could possibly need. I always whip out the calculator function when I'm shopping to see how much it'll cost me!
Texting is easy and can be changed to either input or predictive text. You can insert 160 characters until it charges you for a second message. You can insert really cool pictures and animated emotions into your text though these take up 3 - 4 characters each. The phonebook can be readily accessed to prevent you from having to type the number in. There are various short-cut functions on the keypad which can be customised to take you directly to certain functions, like the phonebook, camera, Mp3 player etc...
There are a few pre-installed games, sounds, ringtones and pics which aren't all that exciting. You can access the internet for features for 50p per day which is pretty good deal!
The screen doesn't show scratches though, as with any phone, it's vulnerable to getting a bit damaged. I've dropped it a few times and it's not broke or smashed in any places to it's tough and well made. It's also a nice slim size to fit onto your pocket or bag and whip out without it looking like you've been carrying a brick around with you. I think it looks stylish and expensive when really, you can pick these up from most places now for about £50.
Overall, this is a lovely simple and easy to use stylish phone that looks glam and had everything you need on it. My own main criticism would be the keypad as it's quite small and difficult to click the numbers without pressing another by mistake, hense, why I consider this more of a girls phone (smaller hands!).
Advantages: User friendly and a lot of phone for the price Disadvantages: getting the back off initially
...cheerful model known as a Samsung J700, which is offered on all networks with either PAYG or contract.
I opted for a PAYG on the orange networks as I have been on Orange for what seems like an eternity.
Anyway, I had heard a few good things about this particular phone and thought ‘why the hell not??… I mean, for under thirty quid I couldn’t grumble.

Samsung J700 Pink
My review on the lovely pink Samsung j700 mobile phone.
I purchased this phone last week online as I thought it was a brilliant wee phone. I read review after review and no one had a bad word to say about it, so I purchased it for 49.99 from Amazon brand new.
The look…
The phone is very stylish and trendy. It is a mixture of dark and light metallic pink with a slide feature. On the front it has got the main screen, and underneath ... ...again. And like other Samsung phones I have used, predictive text lets you select the words from a list, but once you space off that word you cant go back to predict and change it, meaning, delete it and re-write it. The last problem I have it that you MUST get a memory card for the phone, The memory is dreadful I got to store 2 songs on the phone, and then there was no more room, which meant I couldn't use my camera as it couldn't save the picture ...

Advantages: A great, reliable and cheap phone full of standard features Disadvantages: Not the highest picture and sound quality
...a spare phone - the Samsung SGH-J700. ~The Phone Itself~ The design itself is quite sleek, obviously not to the standard of some of the newer and more expensive phones of late, but still quite stylish in looks for the price paid for it. It is a 'slide-up' phone where you have to push the screen up to reveal the key buttons underneath. This is a standard style phone and not a touch screen phone. It is available with either a black or silver casing. ... ...makes the phone look more expensive than it actually is. The top of the phone consists of a screen measuring around 1.8" x 1.5", which is pretty impressive for this phone, as the phone itself is quite small, so I think they have made the most of the space by optimising the screen as much as possible. You also get a circular menu button in the middle which dominates the phone and the usual call answer, call ending and cancel buttons too. All these ...

...move. My Thoughts ********** Samsung in my opinion not only delivers fantastic looking phones but also very robust ones. I have dropped this on a number of occasions and it still works fine. Whenever i change phones i always go for a Samsung if i can. What i love about this phone is that the keypad has fairly large buttons, so if like me you have large fingers it is still easy to send a text message. The menus are fairly straight forward so you do ... ...morning or find the calculator when doing the shopping. The timer on it is great for boiling eggs, what i mean is, if like me you like to time your cooking, just set the timer and it will set off an alarm when it finishes. I have to admit that i have not tried the WAP function on the phone yet and that's only because i am too lazy to do it. Although the phone has a 10Mb internal memory this can soon be used up when you start adding music and ring ...
