I upgraded my Contract with O2 last month and recieved the S300 free, much to my suprise, as i was originally going to go for another nokia.
When i recieved the box i was suprised at recieving not only an extra slimlime battery (bow i can always have a spare battery with me) and at the data comms cable, which do not come free with nokia phones and can be extortionately priced to buy. also you get a hands free headphone set, which i would use but for fear or people thinking i talk to myself in the streets i havent actually tried out yet.
This phone is my first phone after a line of various nokia phones, and my first colour screen phone.
AT first it took a bit of getting used to as the button layout and user interface is different, such as when writing text messages, but i soon got used to that. Texting with a Samsung is the only down side to the phone as far as i am concerned, as you cannot add words (such as names you might write often) into the phone dictionary and there is no option to 'insert smiley' or 'insert number'. also when you send the message, unless you choose to send AND save, you cannot see the message again, and must rewrite it. this can be annoying if you want to send the same message to more than one person and forget to press send and save.
This phone, in my opinion would be far better suited to someone who uses it for actual voice calls and for its features such as GPRS and the extensive organiser options rather than someone who texts all the time as it can be fiddly and irritating, especially as if the folder (flip up bit) is closed during writing a text the message is lost.
the storage capacity for numbers and texts etc is vast, i'm not entirely sure how many texts you can store but i've had around 60 so far and didnt get a 'full inbox' as you do with nokias.
Its quiet a fun phone as far as sounds and pictures are concerned. If you are competent (or even not too competent) you will be able to use the 'easy GPRS' software that you receive with the phone. This enables you not only to type text messages and send them from your pc, but to organise your phone book and text message directory from your desktop which is far less fiddly than doing it all on the phone. Another feature of this Easy GPRS is that you can upload pictures to use as backgrounds and sounds as ring tones etc. the software cd contains some sounds and pictures but these can be downloaded from the internet also.
another feature is that if you use a laptop you can connect it to the internet using your mobile.
the phone is connected to the pc via a serial cable that plugs into the base of your phone in exactly the same was that the phones charger does.
Overall i am very pleased with this phone as i've come across no bugs that nokia phones sometimes experience (like when you go to send a message and it starts giving you italian options????) and will more than likely buy another samsung in the future... if and when i get bored of this phone.

...anything other than the official Samsung website, I have had problems ordering these in the past and the order that failed was not resolved.
The menu screens are easy to navigate and look alright, though not as flashy as other models. It has a wide range of ringtones which sound great, and also lets the user assign tones to different callers (however this doesn't always seem to work) Wap works fine on this model, though I am still yet to see the ... ...does have infa red which means it's easy to upload your own wallpapers to the phone, saving money on buying these from websites. A quick software installation is all that's needed as long as your computer has an infa red output (most laptop's do)
The number of messages that the model can hold is impressive at 60 (10 Sim/50 phone memory) I do a lot of travelling on trains and have always been quite impressed at the signal my Nokia phone could hold ...

I got this phone free when I took out a monthly contract with Orange.
The first thing that strikes you about the phone is that it is a miniature thing of beauty. Sleek and compact, the colour screen is arguably one of the best on the market (although NOT very suitable for outdoor viewing in bright sunlight). The numeric keypad is well-sized and fairly easy to use, as are the numerous functions available through the phone menu.

I have had my Samsung SGH S300 for 6 months now and feel I did not waste my money. I do however have thumbs down for the non existent Bluetooth technology. The phone is provided with 2 batteries. Both are different in the standby duration. The extended life battery gives you roughly another day of standby mode. You have an external clock. This is only activated when you press and hold down the external volume button for a few seconds. You can change ... ...The keys to the Samsung SGH S300 lighten up in a very attractive blue. More attractive when you are using your mobile at night. You have 40 polyphonic ring tones and have a WAP browser too. You can change the background display on the internal screen of your mobile with a selection you have. I find the calendar a helpful tool.

The all crowning feature of this phone is linked to it's GPRS function. Not only can you connect to the net anywhere with your laptop but you can get free high quality Polyphonic ring tones. My mother brought this phone approximately 2 years ago now and it is still up there with the best colour screen flip phones. The phone is small and lightweight with a superb colour screen backed up by the many different features including wap, to do list, calender and many many more. The phone is very easy to use and navigating between options is very simple. There is also a colour screen on the outside of the phone which displays the time, date ... ...you do not have to open the flip to see the time. It also displays the caller which means you can see who is calling you before you answer the phone. When the flip is closed and the phone is in standby mode the outside screen can be used as a small mirror very useful for the ladies. this is a very good all round phone and I only managed to find one fault with it. WHY SGH-P300?
Prior to my engagement with this eye-catchy S model, I have 2 existing Nokia mobile phones with pay-to-go scheme and all of them have one in common - small and they were once best units in the high street. So, I have to maintain that criteria for new ones.
Looking for a new set always requires several visits to the phone stores and this is really a tedious process for me. Not to mention of browsing available on-line consumer sites like dooyoo and ciao to get invaluable ...
