I've had the Samsung SGH U600 for a couple of months now and it's battered! The phone which I had before I got an upgrade was in better condition after a year than the one I have now! It's not the type of phone you can just throw into your bag or pocket, not that I'm careless with it but the screen is especially scratched, which is a shame because it's a great looking phone, really sleek and shiny. But if you don't really care what your phone looks like it's not just a pretty face, there's so many different functions, the phone itself is really easy to use although you have to be careful, the touch screen is really sensitive, I don't find it a problem because my old phone was also a touchscreen so I'm used to it, however if you're not used to it You may start to think the phone has a mind of it's own when it suddenly decides to ring your auntie Ethel who you don't particularly want to talk to, and then deletes a text message that's taken 20 minutes to write because you think your clever trying to multitask, leaving you not only furious but saying out loud 'I swear I didn't touch anything!' (when there's only you in the room!) When I'm using the phone for a call the reception is always good, but most of the time I use my phone to send text messages, I don't have a problem writing a message but the buttons are quite small, so if you have big leather workmans fingers like my dad, then phone could soon be in danger of being thrown at the nearest wall.
Other functions include an MP3 player which I use quite a lot, the sound and ease of use is great and it's simple to upload music via Bluetooth which is what I do, and you can then put your music into different categories or playlists There is also FM radio which is easy to find and store stations, although is can only be used with ear phones (which can start to hurt my ears after a while… and not because of the volume…although I probably should turn it down seeing as I already suffer from tinnitus!) The 3.2 mega pixel camera is great too, I use it quite a bit and always get a great picture, great for patient people who can hold a smile, or still things, not so great for movement and toddlers who can go from a smile to a frown in a blink and have then left the room by the time it clicks! It's also fun to mess around with the image editor, you can take a picture of someone you don't particularly like and make them look like a big alien bulb head, (not that I suggest you do…or indeed that I myself have done such an awful thing….)
When you slide the phone up and enter the menu, you will find the Call log, Phone book, Music player, Browser (which I haven't used yet), Messages, My files, Calendar, Camera, Java world (where you will find an addictive game called Bobby Carrot…not that I'm addicted to it of course..) Applications- where you will find 13 different applications including Voice recorder, FM Radio, Image editor (for big giant bulb head lovers), Bluetooth , Calculator, Converter, Timer, Stopwatch, Smart search, O2, Memo, World clock and Image stamp. The phone also comes with a USB cable to connect to your computer. The memory of the phones not great but I've still got quite a bit stored on my phone without a memory card (which you buy separately.) The ringtones aren't great either, but you can soon go to settings and personalise your phone just how you want it (mines got a big Misfits face on it!)
The battery isn't too bad, I leave my phone on constantly because the alarm, so it lasts about three days before it gets down to one bar, but it depends how much it's in use, you have to be quite careful when attaching the charger because it can be a little fiddly as it's a wide flat plug rather than a round pin plug, but it charges pretty fast.
But overall I must say I love this phone and would definitely recommend it ( to non clumsy people with nimble fingers!....kidding)
