I recently bought this a few days ago through O2.co.uk to replace my extremely old NEC E101. Now I'm not a heavy phone user, but I definitely wanted something with a high storage, video options and with that 3G feature.
I bought a pay as you go type with no sim card included for £78. I have and always will avoid contract offers due to the feel of them being a con. I recieved it the next day with DHL as the delivery courier, so next day guarantee was met by O2.
The general interface seemed very complicated at first and gave me the impression that it would roughly take me a few weeks to master. Although, I seemed to have everything under control in about 30 minutes of use. There were so many icons on the menu to choose from, so I had no idea what to do first.
Storage space seems to be an excellent feature for the U800. The standard space included is 1GB, which is more than enough as it is. There are many forms of storage cards option to buy too on E-Bay, to take up to 8GB, much like a memory card in a digital camera. There even seems to be memory cards for this phone at 16GB, if this works...I'm really not sure.
The video game feature seems to be fairly decent with two games included. A card game and a game based on that latest Indiana Jones movie, however only a demo version. There are many others to buy and download. Its possible to have many installed at once due to the large storage capacity. I've tried the two games included and are pretty colourful and cute. Not next generation graphics or anything, but quite impressive for a phone.

I believe its essential to buy a form of casing for this model. It really does seem like it won't be to handle drops or scratches of any kind. Its very light and seems quite flimsy, so its recommended you shop for some case protection on E-Bay. I'm currently waiting for mine to arrive. I left on the plastic cover over the screen for the time being.
The sound quality really made me jump, as I was not expecting it to be so loud for a mobile phone. It plays MP3 quality perfectly and as if you are listening to it on a sterio system. Even on maximum volume and in many rooms away from where the phone as in, I could still hear it very playing the track. There is also the speaker option for calls as well, a feature that I've always admired.
There is no need to email yourself pictures or other files, as its very simple to connect the U800 to a PC or laptop providing the drivers have been installed. The package came with a software CD which took around two minutes to install everything on my laptop. When transfering over MP3 tracks, a message appeared saying they may not work, possibly with them needing to be converted due to them not being designed for that particular device...something along those lines. However, I've encountered no problems and they play perfectly as they would on Windows Media Player. The only drawback with the PC - phone option is that it can several seconds to transfer a single file over, but I honestly don't see this as a big weakness.
The U800 has the ability to have an animated wallpaper in the background. These can be very easy to find for free on the Internet without having to pay silly amounts like you see in advertisements.
A free FM radio is included with this one and is safe to say, very excellent. The signal quality for every radio station is at least 90% clear and I didn't need to tune any of them, they were already saved in my favourites. Users can still listen to their radio while doing other misc. things on their phone as well, like texting messaging for example. Although, the radio will naturally stop when an incoming call comes through.
The camera gets the job done at 3 mega pixels and generally pretty clear as long as its being used in a well lit area. I have tested the video recording and every sound in the background came out just fine. Users may want to convert them into a different format when putting them on a PC. As the format is MP4. There are many options with the camera to change the slightest of lightning in the pictures depending on the environment you're currently in. However, I've yet to try out the video calling option.

Summed up-- this is the worst phone i have ever owned. I was looking for a new phone for around £100 as a birthday gift. I read some reviews online and every thing seemed good, it was the top of the range at the time. I was specifically looking for a phone with a built in radio (as this does) as my ipod doesn't have one. This was advertised for £100 on the 02 online website. So i told my partner that this was the phone for me, and he went off and ... ...had cost £205 in the 02 shop on the high street! how can they get away with doing that?! The phone is very slim and light weight... however that is a bad thing. Its so slim that it actually slides out of all my pockets when i sit down, crashing to the floor. Its so light weight im terrified its just going to shatter. It feels poorly constructed, when i push the back the metal 'pushes' in the way. The buttons are awful, small, and take actual effort ...

i have the samsung u800 and the first thing i noticed is how they got a high quality 3 mega pixel camera into such a slim sleek stainless steal design. The phone looks as if it is worth £400 because of it's great look!. the phone is very easy to use and simple but also advanced when you want it to be. The radio has good sound quality and so does the music player. If you choose to buy a memory card then you can go up to 8GB's which means you can save ... ...already comes with 1GB internal memory which is plenty for people who want a few albums and pictures.The only disadvantage to this phone is that it is not very loud when someone calls you so if it is in the bottom of your handbag then there is a chance you might not hear it. ...

i feel that this phone is way to expensive for what the phone is actually worth. i have had 3 of these phones now and each one of them had broken. one of the screens has cracked and 2 of the backs had snapped off. i do like the fact that these hones are easy to use and are user friendly. my grandma bought one and she even finds it easy which is unusual for a grandma they usually tend to struggle with everything.
if you do buy this phone you must ... ...phone other wise the prices you will be paying for part is rediculous. i payed 25 pound for a replacement back.
the phone battery is similar to the usualphone however if used quite a bit in talk time this is reduced to next to nothing. tbh i would rather buy another house phone and carry it about with me than take this ...
