...INTRO
Bought this monitor in Dec 2004 as part of a computer system revamp so I initially chose it because it looked good (for me). The monitor is satin black, not dark grey like some others ones. The other reason was the price, inexpensive if compared to similar specification monitors from other well known brands like Iiyama, Sony, Philips and Sharp. I trust the Samsung brand to provide good quality equipment as I have used their products before with no problems. Other brands I had considered were Sony, LG, Relysis, Acer and AG Neovo but were either out of stock or lacked feedback from users. The monitor cost me £278 (including VAT) from an internet supplier.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX
You get the monitor, video cable to connect to computer, power cable to connect to the mains and software CD. The CD contains a Windows XP certified driver...

Advantages: Beautiful, small, rock solid, fast, quality construction, full of features, right there with the big boys on performance. Disadvantages: none really. once hooked with a Shuttle then there is no going back.
...were not pre-routed and they looked plain white. The new cables are dark blue with Shuttle branding all over them and pre-routed in the case to where the hardisk and the optical drives are. nice! It also comes with a longer IDE cable for use with two hardisk.
- The old SN41G2's front ports had separate cables going into the motherboard. This created a lot of mess and hardwork when unplugging and plugging the cables. The new SN41G2 v2 on the other hand have all the ports connected to one header on the motherboard reducing clutter and making it much easier to work with.
- One thing I hated with the old SN41G2 was the front S/PDIF connector. Since I use that for my speakers I had to do with a cable coming out of the front which didnt look that nice at all. The new SN41G2 v2 has the S/PDIF connector in the back. It also has an S/PDIF input too...

THE SN41G2
Firstly, for those of you that are new to this, the SN41G2 Shuttle is a SFF (small form factor) barebones unit, essentially meaning that this is a computer that comes without a CPU processor, hard disk drive, memory, CDROM drive or peripherals such as keyboard or monitor. You have to buy your own components to go with it. PC parts are fairly standard these days so there shouldn't be any problems with finding the right parts.
DESIGN
Since having purchased the Shuttle SN41G2 barebones a year ago, my expectations of what a computer should look like and build quality have completely changed. As well as its small and compact size, the SN41G2 is one of the smartest looking units out of the Shuttle range with its brushed aluminium casing and high...

The Samsung 2232bw is a fantastic stylish monitor. I'll quickly go through from start to finish:

The monitor is packaged extremely well - the box is small, but the polythene inside protects the monitor from damage. The box opened... more
The monitor provides a very clear and crisp picture and had no dead pixels. At this price I also found it to be excellent value. It was very easy to install as it needs only to be plugged in and it will work fine. Some of the settings on the monitor... more
