Today, PC users are on the go. So a PC's drive better be reliable. No problem, if it's got a Samsung 2.5-inch hard drive. And with a 5400rpm spin speed and 8MB buffer, this drive also delivers truly impressive throughput performance, and leading-edge technology that increases noise suppression and lowers power consumption. Advantages: +cheap +good spec Disadvantages: - nothing I can really think of
...There is only so much I can say about the hard drive in terms of use. Basically, a hard drive is a hard drive and this functions as well as any other. However, I have had no problems with use of the drive or loudness. The hard drive excels in it's basic, yet perfectly functioning, no-frills-attached features and it's low-end price (£84.99). with computing hardware, as with any market, you tend to get what you pay for. However, Samsung are the forerunners in a rapidly growing initiative to provide good-quality hardware at affordable prices. Let's not forget that other 1TB hard-drives can stretch up into the hundreds without offering any bonuses in terms of speed or reliability.
I have never installed a hard-drive prior to buying this, but found the instructions so easy to follow that I was able to do it myself and format it in no...

Advantages: Noise, Speed Disadvantages: Can't think of anything.
...I came across this a week ago, and was taken in by the capacity and low-noise level. It seemed perfect for installing into a media center PC. Media Center boxes for a lounge need to have plenty of space for recording tv shows, whilst being quiet as to not interrupt the movies.
This hard-drive gives you the best of both worlds. 400Gb - an abundance of storage. (Ideal for ripping your entire music collection onto it) or for movies and downloaded tv episodes.
You're probably wondering what the difference is between this and the other 400Gb drives on the market, and this one is quietly leading the way. Top performance, with whisper quiet acoustics.
My verdict - buy one today....

Advantages: Low noise, generally low vibration, fairly cool for a 250gb drive, reliability Disadvantages: Not as cool or quiet as the HA250JC, but considerably cheaper
...Following on from the success of the now-legendary HA250JC, Samsung have updated their 250gb product line with this excellent drive. Although it is a 7200rpm drive (unlike the HA250JC which is 5400rpm) this drive still runs pretty cool for a 250gb drive, and with generally low rotational vibration which can lead to hum with some drives when installed in media centre, Sky+ or TiVo.
When "quiet" mode is enabled (using Samsung's HUTIL utility) the seek noise of this drive is extremely soft and quiet - among the quietest 250gb drives we have tested.
Reliability should be good too, as all Samsung drives are generally very reliable - so this should just go on and on in your TiVo or media PC...
All round rating: B+...
