    I bought an external USB HDD drive made by Freecom. This showed up in windows device manager as having a Samsung SP2514N drive inside. After 2 years of 'normal' home use ( diconnecting & shutting down the device as recommended ), this disc drive has failed and lost lost all data stored on it. Fortunately, I back up my data onto another external HDD (iomega 750 GB) and so damage from the Samsung SP2514N failing was small.     Following on from the success of the now-legendary HA250JC, Samsung have updated their 250gb product line with this excellent drive. Although it is a 7200rpm drive (unlike the HA250JC which is 5400rpm) this drive still runs pretty cool for a 250gb drive, and with generally low rotational vibration which can lead to hum with some drives when installed in media centre, Sky+ or TiVo. When "quiet" mode is enabled (using Samsung's HUTIL utility) the seek noise of this drive is extremely soft and quiet - among the quietest 250gb drives we have tested.
