Advantages: light, space-saving, instant warm-up Disadvantages: can buy a very high quality 17" tube for the same price
...I'd promised myself a flat-panel monitor for some years now, but at £500+ I couldn't justify the expense. Finally, the prices are dropping to reasonable levels. In June 2001 when I saw a SamsungSyncMaster 570V TFT going for a "mere" £350 at a local computer fair, I took the plunge. I've subsequently seen them on sale in PC World for £400.
I'll never buy a cathode 17" again. You save an incredible amount of front/back space and don't risk a hernia every time you shift a flat-panel. Characters are crisp and clear at 1024 x 768 resolution and the colours are vibrant.
There's little reason to go down to the interpolated 800 x 600 resolution, which is perfectly adequate but not so impressive as the native 1024 x 768.
The 15" 570V is equivalent to the visible screen coverage of a traditional 17" tube, and at 12" across by 9" down it...

It Broke.... Review ofSamsungSyncMaster800TFTby
ReviewDude
Advantages: TFT Disadvantages: Too Bright, Too Small, Too Expensive, Too White
...I had little success with this SamsungTFT monitor. I own a range of Samsung products so had no doubt when buying this.
I purchased it online and it arrived a few days later. I opened the box to find it was white, the first surprise. The website I purchase it from showed it as being silver and not white so I wasn't very happy.
The white shell marks easy and doesn't fit in as well as silver. The next problem was with the stand. Because the monitor isn't CRT there's no weight pushing down on the stand. The monitor can be knocked over easy or even blown over if there was a strong wind.
The SyncMaster800 brags about it's extra brightness but Samsung have nothing to brag about when it comes to this feature. When I first turned it on I thought It had gone into light speed.
The brightness is far too high and I had to turn it down after...

Advantages: User controls = Brightness, Contrast, Language, OSD Controls, Factory Reset, Color Adjust, Position, Selectable color temperature Disadvantages: So thin that the monitor might almost break
...This is a must buy piece of hardware. 100% picture quality guaranteed. I've had my Samsung monitor for over 4 months now and had no problems at all. It was easy to set-up, no problems at all. It lights up the room and its an attractive piece of hardware. The size of the screen is brilliant 15inch is just enough for a computer 17inch is good for a gamer but for a home general user 15inch is plenty. This monitor has a really crisp finish. Its brillient
Some of advantages are shown below:
The SamsungSyncMaster 152N is a 15-inch TFT-LCD offering razor-sharpness and innovative features. An analog monitor with a 0.5'' ultra-thin bezel and wall-mount capability, it delivers a 350: 1 contrast ratio, 0.297mm pixel pitch, 1024 x 768 resolution....

I had the chance to work with this product and I have a few opinions about it: overall is a good product but I don't really see the point of plugging a TV tuner in 17 inch monitor.
THE GOOD THINGS:
Includes a tv-tuner, with good image quality for the... more
I not long back got a new TV for the main living room, and moved the old living room tv to the bedroom. 2 Weeks later the old tv broke! So out yet again for a long search of comparing TV's with a tight budget i finally got the Panasonic TX17LX2.
I... more
The trouble is, when you upgrade your computer, there is a tendancy to keep the same monitor. After all, its a piece of equipment that does its job equally well no matter what computer you connect to it. You could have a £300 or a £1300 computer... more
