I don't know about without one, but i have a graphics card in my computer which probably enhances the colour brightness. It's a good sized monitor, well mine is 18.5 inches and i know they come in bigger sizes than that but i find that quite enough, unless you've got a lot of things going on on your computer and you need to view them all at the same time i would recommend this size. overall, this monitor is a real all rounder! a great way of brightening up your computer and lovely to look at!
