Samsung has created a good monitor, supported by both Linux and Windows (though is obscure enough to require a driver disc)
One important piece of info if you're getting the driver off the internet (like I do) the Syncmaster 750s is actually listed as Samsung SyncMaster 750(M)s(T) which can confuse :- ) ... more
My monitor is several years old now, and I'm writing this to really let people know what this monitor has been through.
What originally attracted me to it was its lovely shapely desing and easy to use control panel.
For two years, almost every other weekend it would travel on a 200 mile round trip from University and home. It has travelled in the back of pickup trucks, strapped to the roof, had a glass of lemonade poured on it and dropped frequently.
Although I do not recommend doing this to your monitor I do suggest you buy one. I originally bought it as a temporary monitor (before I got my 21") however it's taken me till now to actually buy one as I am so pleased with the 17" counterpart.
It does support 1152x864 quite happily at 75hz and is still supported today. If you can't get it this high, maybe you need newer drivers and/or graphics card.
In comparision to other cheaper monitors it is second to none. I've just reached the end of my warrenty (bought direct monitors usually come with three year warrenty - if the shop that sells it to you tells you otherwise, ring the manufacturer and check! It never hurts)

Advantages: Good price, wide range of uses, fast and simple to use Disadvantages: Not the newest monitor
I have had this Samsung 750s Monitor for little over 4 years now, and it is still very good and the one I use on my computer for work and gaming.
The Samsung is a well-priced monitor for its size and quality. It can be set up with relative ease on an existing system or on a new pc. This makes is quite nice, as there is no hassle with strange drivers and the resolutions supported at up to 1280x1024, although it can go higher with different 3D cards. ... ...without problems, and there is really no need to download new drivers, as the monitor has few problems.
The monitor actual build and its screen quality are of a high standard, and may well outlast your computer if it is cleaned every now and then. The monitor is fully adjustable for up and down and the angle it is to your eyes. This is key to avoiding back, neck and eyestrain if using the computer for ling periods. The screen has a very slight tilt, ...

Advantages: Picture quality, vibrant colours Disadvantages: Doesn't have high resolutions
I bought the Samsung 750s after returning a Hansol 710P. I was disappointed with the Hansol, but the Samsung was a different story. It only cost £150 from PC World, and was exactly what I was looking for.
The case is good looking and small, the viewable size good at 16", and the on screen display easy to use. The thing that makes this monitor great, though, is the image quality. The colours are amazingly bright and vibrant - almost as good as some ... ...reduces quality, and might stress the eye if used for a long time. But if you want such a high quality monitor with higher resolutions, you might have to spend more.
All in all, the Samsung is amazing, and I recommend it to anyone who needs a new monitor. ...

Advantages: Very fast off-line, top notch memory and processor Disadvantages: Advent in big blue words written across case.
it could be 7 - 10 days before any more arrived in stock. But she was wrong, two days later I got a call from PC World to tell me my new baby was in stock, and that I could come and collect it. I was ecstatic.
And here it is. All set up. Shame you can’t see it. And I know that in another two years time, there will probably be a Pentium Super Charger or something like that, but for now I’m happy with what I’ve got.
So what exactly have I got?
~Advent Hard Drive~
It is an upright case with 40gb of hard drive space. A floppy disk drive with space for another. A CD-ROM/DVD drive with space for another or separate drives. Pentium IV Processor 1400mhz, 256mb ram memory, 56k modem and a 64mb video card.

Advantages: Reasonable balance of price against performance Disadvantages: Still not a dead flat picture
I have now been using one of these for about a month, and see no reason to regret the purchase.
My original thought when replacing my NEC 15” monitor was to wait for flat-screen LCD monitors to come down in price, and whilst this has happened to a certain extent, it hasn’t to the extent that would entice me to part with my money yet. The latter are usually 15.1” monitors, which, because of the way they are measured have very little less viewable screen than a 17” CRT model, which has about 1” of its diagonal measurement masked off by plastic framework. So, a 17” CRT it had to be, if it’s going to seem any larger than what I’ve got.
PC World’s sale was looming large on the horizon, and although I have “slagged-off” their prices elsewhere, £149 for the SamsungSyncMaster ...
